weekly advertising expenditure and sales. The following data were recorded.

Obtain:
i. The equation of regression line of Y on X to predict weekly sales from
advertising expenditure. (10)
ii. Estimate the weekly sales when advertising cost was Rs.35. (10)
Q. 3 (a) Describe the general procedure for testing of hypothesis. (10)
(b) Past records shows that the average score of students is 57 with standard
deviation 10. A new method of teaching is employed and a random sample of
70 students is selected. The sample average is 60. Can we conclude on the
basis of these results, at 5% a level of significance, that the average score has
increased? (10)
Q. 4 (a) The means of random samples of sizes 20 and 25 are 58 and 60 inches
respectively., Can the samples be regarded as drawn from a normal
population with variance 12.25? Use 5% and 1% level of significance. (10)
(b) For the following information test the hypothesis and interpret the results. (10)
H0: μ=80000, H1: μ 80000 when σ=100, =79,600, α=0.05.

Q. 5 (a) How does hypothesis testing for the difference between means of two normal
populations with paired observations differ from testing with independent
observations? (7)
(b) 11 school boys were given a test in Economics. They were given on months’
further tuition and a second test of equal difficulty was held at the end of it.
Do the marks given evidence the students have benefited by the extra
