Principles of Public Life [Selflessness, Integrity, Objectivity, Accountability, Openness,

ETHICS
➢ Meaning –
o It refers to the evaluation of moral values, principles & standards of human conduct
and its application in daily life to determine acceptable human behaviour.
o It is based on well founded standards of right & wrong that prescribes what human
ought to do, usually in terms of rights, obligations, benefits to the society, fairness,
or specific virtues.
o Derived from the Greek term “ETHOS” which implies Character/ conduct.
BUSINESS ETHICS
➢ Moral principles, policies and values that govern the way businesses and individuals engage
in business activities.
IMPORTANCE OF ETHICS
1. Builds Trust and Credibility: Ethics help establish trust with stakeholders, including customers,
employees, investors, and partners. When organizations act with integrity, transparency, and
fairness, they demonstrate reliability and responsibility.
