Production Suppliers
Introduction
Overview
Direct Data Link
Direct Data Link (DDL) provides suppliers with an on-line interactive access tool to Ford Motor Company's
inventory control system (CMMS3). Using DDL, suppliers work as business partners to assure the continuous
flow of material to maintain production while keeping inventory levels that minimize carrying costs and excess
transportation charges. This on-line interactive inventory system allows suppliers to view the same data Ford
analysts view. Through Direct Data Link (DDL or eDDL), Ford has the ability to communicate specific supply
chain information with its supply base. Suppliers can connect directly to Ford Motor Company to view their
data:
DDL – direct mainframe access
eDDL – web-based interface for mainframe access
DDL and eDDL are the same in that you can view the same CMMS3 data, but they are different in the way the
data is laid out and the way that you navigate. Suppliers have an option of choosing the interface to be used
This course is divided into three modules (Mod 1: Overview, Mod 2: Periodic Requirements, Mod 3: Daily
Requirements) that provide information that will enable Ford production suppliers to:
• Recognize their periodic and daily requirements for delivery to Ford plants
• Perform tasks in CMMS3 to meet these requirements
Interactions in CMMS3 directly impact a supplier's delivery rating. For a more detailed explanation on how the
screens in CMMS3 impact your delivery rating, please reference the SUPER-G page via MP&L in a Box. The web

Note: Suppliers must be logged into Covisint to access the Ford systems.
