1. Six card labelled as A , B , C , D , E and F respectively. Adora numbered each of the card
as the following
Card A B C D E F
Number 1 1 2 3 4 5
(a) Adora plans to throw a 5 faced fair dice (1 , 2 , 3 , 4 , 5) first, and then picked up
the card(s) according to the number obtained by the fair dice. If there are two cards
picked up, she will toss a fair coin to determine which card will she selects. Find the
probability such that A is drawn. (1 mark)
(b) Kathy follows what Adora did however she used a 6 faced fair dice (1 , 2 , 3 ,
4 , 5 , 6) instead. If she obtained a number which not appeared in the above table, she
has to keep throwing until she gets a number which appeared in the table shows
above. Ceci claims that the probability to draw A in Kathy’s approach is less than
that in Adora’s approach. Is she correct? Explain your answer. (3 marks)
(c) If the card F is changed to “9” . Will the chance of getting card A by using Kathy’s
approach increase? Explain your answer. (2 marks)
