This diagnostic code is recorded when the ECM cannot receive data off the CAN data link from the control valve
for module 2. The ECM expects to receive information from the CAN data link at a specific rate.
The first valve electronic control unplugged during the last power cycle.

electronic controls.
A. Verify the machine ECM has the latest software version loaded.
B. Verify that the valve ECM's have the latest software loaded.

Repair: Flash all controls with the latest software release. Refer to Testing and Adjusting, "Electronic Control
Module (ECM) - Flash Program".
Stop.
B. Inspect all harness connections that are related to the CAN data link. Make sure that the connectors are clean
and tight.
C. Check the connectors for proper mating. Ensure that all the seals are present and in place.
E. Check the wires at the connector. Ensure that the wires are secured tightly into the connector. Take care not
to pull the wire out of the connector.
F. Check the exposed wires at the connectors for nicks or signs of abrasion.
I. Check each pin and each socket of the machine harness connectors. Ensure that the contacts are properly
installed. The contacts should mate correctly when the two pieces of the connector are placed together.
J. Disconnect the harnesses from the machine ECM and module 2. Measure the resistance from the following
contacts that are provided in table 2.

K. Check that no continuity exist between any two sockets for the pilot module connector except between
contact 3 and contact 6.

The resistance values agree with table 2 and the continuity is correct for the pilot module connector.
Results:
OK - The resistance values agree with the table and the continuity is correct for the pilot module connector.
Proceed to Test Step 4.
NOT OK - Any of the measurements A, C, E or F does not agree with the table.
Stop.
NOT OK - Any of the measurements B or D does not agree with the table. Proceed to Test Step3.
C. Measure the resistance across contact A (wire Y787-WH) and contact B (wire Y788-GY) for both resistors.
Note the resistance.

YES - The resistances measured are 120 ± 12 ohms. Reconnect the resistors. Proceed to Test Step 4.
Repair: Replace the termination resistor(s) that did not measure 120 ± 12 ohms.
Stop.
C. Using a digital multimeter, read the frequency and magnitude of the voltage change between module 2 contact
7 and module 2 contact 5.
Expected Result:
The frequency is approximately 1 Hz, and voltage alternates between approximately 0 and 10 volts.

B. Turn the key start switch to the ON position. Do NOT start the machine.
C. Measure the voltage across contact 4 (wire 799-WH) and contact 5 (wire 205-BK).
Expected Result:

YES - The voltage that is measured is approximately 10 DCV. The pilot module is receiving the correct
voltage.
Stop.
NO - The voltage that is measured is above 12 DCV. The machine ECM may have failed.
Repair: It is unlikely that the ECM has failed. Exit this procedure and perform this procedure again. If the
cause of the diagnostic code is not found, replace the ECM. See Testing and Adjusting, "Electronic Control
Module (ECM) - Replace".
Stop.
NO - The pilot module is NOT receiving the correct input voltage. The voltage is significantly below 10 DCV.
Proceed to Test Step 6.
B. Turn the key start switch to the ON position, but do NOT start the engine.
C. Use a spoon and measure the battery voltage between J1-47 and machine ground.
D. Measure the key switch voltage between J1-1 and machine ground
Expected Result:
The battery voltage that is measured is approximately 12 DCV and the key switch voltage is approximately 80 to
100% of battery voltage.
Results:
YES - The battery voltage that is measured is approximately 12 DCV and the key switch voltage is
approximately 80 to 100% of battery voltage. The machine ECM may have failed.

cause of the diagnostic code is not found, replace the ECM. See Testing and Adjusting, "Electronic Control
Module (ECM) - Replace".

80% of battery voltage.
Repair: Inspect the harness between the machine ECM and the key switch or replace the key start switch.
