Guided Practices

A. Conduct a survey of the school environment. Provide a description of the

following components:

Components Description
Location The school is situated at the back of
the elementary school.
Physical Facilities The school made sure that there is
always an in-charge and that it is well-
maintained.
Psychological Climate Students can easily access the
Guidance office since it can visibly see
the student’s whereabouts
Community Context The school is always in partnership
with the barangay.

B. Answer the following questions:

1. Which component is the strength and weakness of the school? Explain your
answer.
-One of the strength of the school is its partnership with the barangay where they are
full supported with their needs and also they have a harmonious relationship with the
faculty and staff. If there is a weakness, I think they still lack extra rooms for the
faculty room.
2. How does the school maintain the safety and security of students?
-The guards roam around the school. They also secure that the gate is locked or
guarded because of the implementation of the “One in, One out” policy of the DepEd
where students are advised not to go out during lunchtime to avoid absenteeism and
cutting of classes. And also prevent violence and accidents whenever students are
outside the campus.

3. What are the best practices of the school in keeping the learning
environment conducive for teaching and learning?
-I think their best practice is having the ICL be maximized because it will serve as a
short break of the students yet they still maximize it to finish other school works or
use the time for their preparation in different performance task.
4. How do teachers promote social development and cultural diversity to
learners?
-Their school has a wide oval or recreational field where students are free to
maximize the space. They also have tables and chairs under the tree which
sometimes served as a students’ kiosk. They also have school activities that would
enable the students to perform and socialize with other grade levels. As to cultural
diversity, their organization for indigenous people are well established. They also
honor special events that promotes nationalism just like the independence day and
the like.
5. In what ways does the school promote a positive school-community
relationship?
-I think there’s one activity after our FS1 where the barangay through the
Sannguniang Kabataan, they conducted symposium about mental health and other
concerns. Not just the barangay, the parents of the learners are also obedient with
the school’s policies where they strictly follow the guidelines whenever they have
important matters inside the school.

Reflection:

Write your reflection by completing the following statements.

I realized that it is important to secure that the school is conducive for learning
because as teachers we do not just consider the preparation of our lesson but the
school as a whole. As part of the faculty, we have a responsibility also to help the
school become better. I realized that there is a long checklist on how to give the best
school to the students. Although there is no perfect school, the school must address
the lackings or problems that they may encounter in order to encourage more
students to love learning and love their alma mater as well.

I believed it is essential to suggest better options, speak up during meetings,

participate in school activities all for the betterment of the school. It is also important
to start the good changes inside the school down to the classroom. As teachers we
also have to protect the rights of our learners. Furthermore, we have to consider their
overall self as well most especially their mental health that has been deteriorating
since the pandemic. It is also essential for a school to be an image of inclusivity so
that the students will follow the lead as well.

From now on, I am determined to dedicate myself in contributing better suggestion

that would benefit the school and mostly the welfare of the students. From now on, I
will be more considerate of the surroundings. I will also improve my social skills so I

can help connect the school to government and non-government organizations that
would extend programs for the youth. Moreover, students must be given
opportunities to explore their own interests and abilities because this is what
teaching is all about. We do not just teach the basics of the lessons but also the real-
life lessons that they must master whenever they go out of the school.
