Minor Course
A minor is a secondary subject that complements the major area. It is optional and
considered as a secondary concentration of courses that is in addition to the regular degree
program (major).
A student can register a minor of his/her choice from the list of courses offered by the
Schools/Institutes as per the University policy.
A Students may choose/register for a Minor after successful completion of four semesters.
The minimum CGPA required for opting a Minor is 3.00 CGPA for Undergraduate degree
programs.
A special provision will be created in ERP for all the students having CGPA 3.00 & above can
register up to 21 credit hours opting for minors.
Courses with labs, if essential, be modified and lab portions are appropriately adjusted in
projects and home assignments.
Students will be facilitated to take Minor subjects in a semester by extending the maximum
limit of CHs from 18 to 21.
Which Schools/Institutes are offering Minors?
The potential student can visit and get the brochure of the courses from their respective
department and the department of the other School/Institute to which they want to register.
The students can also visit the Registrar office web page where they can get the required
information for all the minor courses being offered by the Schools/Institutes.
Students can get registered for minors during the regular course registration period as
announced by the Registrar’s Office, i.e. the course registration of Spring-2023 semester shall
start from January 30, 2023.
Reflection of Minor Courses on Final Transcript
Minor courses with their titles will be reflected on the student’s transcript.
Minor courses CGPA will be calculated separately from SGPA/CGPA of the degree
courses.
Credit hours for minor courses will be in addition to the standard requirement of the
degree.
The student has to complete a minimum of 12 CHs (4x Courses) to earn a Minor.
W and F grades in the case of a Minor subject will not be reflected on the student's
transcript. However, the student will have to pass at least four courses to be eligible
for the Minor. In case the student does not clear the minimum required courses for
minors, then the remaining courses with pass grades will be reflected in the
transcripts as “Additional Courses”.
The tuition fee of minor courses for the initial year (Spring-2023, Summer 2023 and Fall-
2023) will be discounted @ 50% of the standard credit hour rate of the degree
program/batch for which the student has opted minors.
A candidate opting minors can perform exceptional as a student and eventually as a job
candidate.
