company, during the course of her work. Even though she was aware of it
she was never concerned about raising these issues. But, when she was
asked to get the insider information, she felt like being part of these

Martha had to take into consideration the six pillars of character
(Trustworthiness, Fairness,
Respect, Responsibility, Caring, and Citizenship)
If she delegates the work to Kauffman she will lose the trust of her
employer. The
respect for her among the employers decrease.
If she continues with the silicon 6 project she will be considered as
the employee with responsibility
By continuing with the project, she can prove the commitment
towards the job and
will maintain her citizenship in the workplace
Ans: In this case both Chris and Alison were successful, well-educated and

Here are the Moral Disengagement strategies that Mr. and Mrs. Weston
used for the case:
1. Advantageous comparison
2. Diffusion of responsibility
Advantageous comparison: Chris Weston was comparing himself to the
management that he was working with. Due to the fact that the company
culture was unethical, he ended up doing the same actions as his
colleagues. He began to think that he was not doing the worst unlike the
owner, executive, and directors of the company. He treated his actions
inside and outside of the company seem acceptable and there were no
flaws. The wife, Allison, was not aware of what is exactly going on with her
husband's company, however, she agreed to partner with his husband to
complete the launching of their company.
Displacement of responsibility:
Diffusion of responsibility: Chris began starting to create unethical action
based on what he sees at his work. He asked his wife to create a business
to help him with his current job which he did not inform the executive and
directors about this plan. He launched the side company using the maiden
name of his wife. Since he is a part of a company that ethical action is not
taking seriously, he began to do things in unethical ways, as long as he
gets the job done. On top of that, the wife also did not question her
husband's action and decided to help his husband to start the business
without asking all the information she needed to know or had a private
meeting with the owner and/or CEO of Chris’s company.
