The project entitled as “College Based Service Scheme” synchronizes the working of all
the NSS students in various departments. It looks on all aspects of a college, students, staff,
camp daily activities and other co – curricular activities. This project maintains the student
details, staff details of various department and activities. The system provides an attractive and
easy to handle user interface between NSS Officer and students, which follows web standards.
Considerations have been given at the design and development stages of the package in order
to ensure data integrity and security. It is highly user friendly.
College National Service Scheme application have staff login and student login process. Staff
can view Student Registration and approval letter. The student can enter the daily activities and
apply an approval letter. This project have programs and activities. Regular Activities include
campus work and institutional work. Special camping activities will be in the adopted village
for a duration of 7 days.
Functions such as data entry addition, deletion, modification, navigation etc., have been made
simpler and interactive. There are no predefined or pre assigned tasks. The system is fully
modular in design and protected from unauthorized access.

1. INTRODUCTION
In the modern world of technology, computers are affecting our lives in more ways
than we probably are aware of College Based Service Scheme, maintaining information of
the student details and NSS daily activities, other the list is endless. This project specified all
the working that taken by a NSS staff. If the NSS staff want necessary information he checks
the information about a student in the service scheme.
It is difficult to prepare the manual work to store the information about the all students, teachers
as well as about workers. So this project helps to save those type of information using
computerized system. The cardinal principle of the NSS programme is that it is organized by
the students themselves, and both students and teachers through their combined participation
in community service, get a sense of involvement in the tasks of nation building.
NSS reflects the essence of democratic living and upholds the need for selfless service and
appreciation of the other person’s point of view and also to show consideration for fellow
human beings. The software helps Managers to plan and control the organizational
operations and to respond to changing market conditions. It provi des a regular flow of
information for managerial decision-making and control.

MODULE DESCRIPTION
1. NSS officer login:
The NSS Officer, who is a member of the teaching faculty provides the necessary
leadership to the NSS students. The NSS officer has the professional knowledge and skills.
NSS Officer has authority to assign the staff and activity added. Staff is the fittest person to
provide the necessary lead to the students in developing their personality through community
service.
5. NSS Activities:
NSS Activities have two types. It have Regular Activities and Special camping program.
Regular activities provide campus work and institutional work. Special camping program have
will be in the adopted village for a duration of 7 days.

1.3 SOFTWARE FEATURES
ASP.NET
For creating dynamic web pages using server-side scripting, Microsoft introduced ASP.
ASP.NET is the .NET version of ASP. ASP.NET is a standard HTML file that contains
embedded server-side scripts.
Microsoft SQL server lets you quickly build powerful and reliable database
applications. SQL server highly scalable, fully relational, high performance, multi-user
database server. That can be used by enterprise of any size to manage large amount of
data for client\server applications.
The major new and improved features of SQL server include the multi-user support
Multi platform support, added memory support, scalability, integration with MMC,
Microsoft Management console and improved multiple server management. Parallel
database backup and restore. Data replication, Data warehousing distributed queries,
distributed transactions, Dynamic cocking Internet Access, Integrated windows
security, Mail integration Microsoft English Query, ODBC Support.
5
The OLAP Services feature available in SQL Server version is now called SQL Server 2008 Analysis
Services. The term OLAP Services has been replaced with the term Analysis Services. Analysis
Services also includes a new data mining component. SQL Server database consist of six type of objects,
They are,
1. TABLE
2. VIEWS OF TABLE
3. QUERY
4. FORM
5. REPORT
6. MACRO
TABLE:
VIEWS OF TABLE:
1. Design View
2. Datasheet View
Design View
To build or modify the structure of a table we work in the table design view. We can specify what
kind of data will be hold.
Datasheet View
To add, edit or analyses the data itself we work in tables datasheet view mode.
QUERY:
A query is a question that has to be asked the data. Access gathers data that answers the
question from one or more table. The data that make up the answer is either dynaset (if you
edit it) or a snapshot(it cannot be edited). Each time we run query, we get latest information in
the dynaset.Access either displays the dynaset or snapshot for us to view or perform an action
on it ,such as deleting or updating.
6
FORMS:
A form is used to view and edit information in the database record by record .A form
displays only the information we want to see in the way we want to see it. Forms use the
familiar controls such as textboxes and checkboxes. This makes viewing and entering data
easy.
Views of Form:
We can work with forms in several primarily there are two views,
They are,
1. Design View
2. Form View
Design View
To build or modify the structure of a form, we work in forms design view. We can add control
to the form that are bound to fields in a table or query, includes textboxes, option buttons,
graphs and pictures.
Form View
The form view which display the whole design of the form.
REPORT:
A report is used to vies and print information from the database. The report can ground records
into many levels and compute totals and average by checking values from many records at
once. Also the report is attractive and distinctive because we have control over the size and
appearance of it.
MACRO:
A macro is a set of actions. Each action in macros does something. Such as opening
a form or printing a report .We write macros to automate the common tasks the work easy and
save the time.

2. SYSTEM STUDY AND ANALYSIS
In the existing system, receiving data’s from students and staff details are done through system
records. These records are entered in system process. In this process will take long time,
separate workers need to maintaining the databases. All the NSS details are stored via separate
databases. It will take long time due to this process time waste.
DISADVANTAGE
It's not an user-friendly
Time delay.
There can be fraud and security problems.
More than spaces available in data storage.
PROPOSED SYSTEM
The system, which is proposed, now web based all the details that are maintained
computerized. The security can also be given as per the requirement of the user. If any update
in student details or staff details it can updates easily.
ADVANTAGE
Easy communication with the NSS team.
Participants can register for any happening event from anywhere.
Easy to manage historical data in database.
Its User friendly.
The data in a centralized way which is available to all the event.

3.2 INPUT DESIGN
In the input design the process of connecting the admin-oriented input into a computer and is
to be viewed by the user at the other end. i.e., the details of any work by the admin will be
stored in the database and will be displayed for the users. For this the tables are created in the
database.
16
17
3.3 OUTPUT DESIGN
Output design is process of converting computer data into viewing format for the users.
Computer output is most important and direct source of information to the admin.

4. SYSTEM TESTING
This is to verify that all the system elements have been properly integrated and perform
allocated functions. Testing is executing a program to test the logic changes made in it and
with intention of finding errors. Tests are also conducted to find discrepancies between system
and its original objective, current specification and documents.
5. SYSTEM IMPLEMENTATION
Implementation is the stage in the project where the theoretical design is turned into a working
system. The most crucial stage is achieving a successful new system & giving the user
confidence in that the new system will work efficiently & effectively in the implementation
state.
CONCLUSION
The national service scheme (NSS) purely non-commercial and provides services to the
society. Encouraging students to perform various social cause activities in the locality our
national voice based on the need for service. Its various social cause forum activities are
designed and running purely for providing the possible services to the society with the help of
students. This scheme also brings awareness to social activities and roles and responsibilities
of a citizen to serve the society. By encouraging students to participate in all types of social
cause activities, students will get engaged in the activities and be motivated. Local and central
bodies of NSS monitors and schedules various activities for the students to perform their
studies and in sometimes in the vacations also they need to participate. In the emergency
situation like any disasters happened, volunteers rush to the location to serve the people and
control the situation.

FUTURE ENHANCEMENT
In the future enhancement every application has its own merits and demerits. The project
has covered almost all the requirements. Further requirements and improvements can easily
be done since the coding is mainly structured or modular in nature. Changing the existing
modules or adding new modules like adding the students activity score, sending direct mails
to the respective NSS students about the camping programs can append improvements.
Further enhancements with extra features can be made to the application, so that the web site
functions very attractive and useful manner than the present one.
