Mifare Encoding CS ZebraDriver
The following slides will present a basic way to encode Mifare cards using Card
Studio.
You will need a Zebra printer with a Mifare encoder (printers with letter D or H in the
part number -or upgraded with kit 105912G-134) and Card Studio Professional
(Zebra # P 1031775-001).

Mifare Encoding using Card Studio
Launch Card Studio and select Card Print from the File menu. From the drop
box menu, select your printer (Zebra driver- icon, not the ) . The dialogue
box will close.

Click on Properties
Check the SPOOL port is selected (in the Ports Tab) and, in the Encoders Tab, the
card position is Contactless. Click OK when done or see next slide for the Tools Tab.

In the Tools Tab, you can perform some basic tests like moving the card to the
encoding position,...Click Send to perform the command and OK to exit the menu.

Now select what you wish to perform with the printer: print front, back, both
sides, Magnetic Encoding,..
Please note Contactless Smart Card MUST be selected.
Click on CLOSE, not on OK.

Select Card Setup from the Card Studio File drop menu and check the
Contactless Chip selection. Click OK.

Select where you wish to encode your data (sector and block) by double-
clicking on one line.

Select Data to Encode and enter your data. You can specify a Variable Source.
Click on Data Placement and select a different location if you wish. Click on OK. You
will be returned to the Data Map. Click on Close to go back to the card design screen.

Click on the Print Icon and click OK (or File/Card Print/OK) . The card will
move to the Mifare station and will be encoded. The printer will perform the
other operations (printing,...) after a successful Mifare encoding.

Encoding error
If something goes wrong during the encoding process, the system will re-try
three times to encode. Afterwards, the following pop-up screen will appear.
Try to solve the issue (another card, re-check all the settings,...)

Reading an encoder card
If you experience any issues when trying to encode, you can download the
Zebra Test Software and test the functionality of the printer and encoder.
