OFFENSIVE PHILOSOPHY
Our offense will dictate the game with relentless pace and physicality. We will attempt to get first
downs early in a series, and stay out of 3rd down situations as much as possible.

Our scheme and teaching will be as simple, allowing our players to focus on execution and speed.
We will play with spread formations and an aggressive tempo to allow us to attack throughout the
game.

DOWN & DISTANCE

Football can be broken down in to situations. Our situational philosophy dictates the plays we run
in each:

1st/2nd Down - We will take what the defense gives us through our run/pass option game,
occasionally taking a shot at a big play through the air. The best way to convert third downs is to
avoid them entirely.

3rd & Short: Stretch the field horizontally with jet motions and quick passes and attack the defense
where they are weakest.

3rd & Long: Flood zones and utilize comeback routes to create simple throws. Failing that, we will
look for the best matchups and allow our best players to make plays or create penalties.

4 Minute/Short Yardage: Utilize motions and QB runs to create extra gaps. Minimal option and
pass plays.

2 Minute: Base plays that all 11 men are comfortable running. We must throw past the chains as
often as possible since we are fighting the clock as much as we are our opponent.
Huddle and Cadence
We are a "sugar" huddle team. The center will set the huddle about 5 yards behind the ball. The QB
and F will stand behind them. The skill players will find the LOS and get the signal from there.

Every play will be signaled. Every skill player is responsible for seeing the signal. The QB will tell the
OL the run or protection, after which the OL will walk to the LOS and get set. The skill players should
jog to their spot as soon as they see the signal.

We are not an uptempo team, so maximum speed is not necessary. However, it is important to our
attack that we stay on the move. The only time any player should be still is when they are watching
the signal or awaiting instruction from the QB. Walking or jogging to your spot is fine, as this is our
time to make the defense scramble while we conserve energy. We will never stop!

CADENCE

It is important to mix up our cadence to keep the defense from getting a jump on the play. We will
have several different snap counts that we will use throughout the game. However, each will start in
the same way unless we are in a special situation.

- Once the offense is in position, the QB will scan the formation to make sure it is correct and
everyone is set.
- When he is satisfied, he will give a "READY!" call. After this, nobody moves until he says.
- From there, the cadence will be determined by our signal:

NORMAL CADENCE: READY . . . SET, GO!

"ON TWO": READY . . . SET, GO . . . GO!

"FREEZE:: READY . . . SET, GO! GO! *If the defense doesn't jump, call play or look for signal

"FIRST SOUND": GO!

"ON CENTER": READY! *Center decides when to snap
