STATEMENT OF PURPOSE

Academic Background & Professional Background:

While studying in school days, I was progressing on a gradual basis during my education. In the

10th standard examination conducted by GSEB of Gujarat state, I secured 80.31% in March 2007.

After that I took admission in the Higher Secondary School affiliated by Gujarat Secondary

Education Board. In standard 12 th, I achieved 71.60 % in March 2009. After the completion of my

High Secondary Studies, I had joined for Bachelor of Engineering (Computer Engineering) from

Gujarat Technological University and cleared the same with 7.37 CGPA out 10 in May 2013 from

Gujarat Technological University.

In my bachelor studies, I was exposed to various subjects like software engineering, computer

graphics, Web application development, System programming, web data management, Java

technology etc. During my undergraduation, I studied subjects like Data and file structure,

Operating systems, Database management system, website development, data communications

and network etc. All these subjects were quite interesting and gave me good knowledge about the

applications and basics of computers.

I was always keen on going with abroad studies I was planning initially after completion of my

higher studies, but my parents were quite apprehensive sending me on that point of time as I was

too young to go. So, they suggested to me complete my bachelor studies with good grades and

then go for the master studies. Even I thought that it would be a wise step as I would be quite

matured by that point of time. After completion of my bachelor studies I got an opportunity to

work with Girnari Computers as a Software engineer, later I got promoted to Senior Software

Engineer. I worked from August 2013 to December 2016. There I got an opportunity to learn a lot

of things which helped me a lot to implement my knowledge and improved my skills too. Thus, I

realized that I needed to climb the ladder for my Education and so I decided to go to Australia

with the aim to pursue my Master studies. I was always firm on going to Australia as lot of my

friends are residing out there and the education system is also quite high compare to any other

countries. Even the degree provided by Australia are worldwide recognized. So, I was been

preparing for the IELTS with my job and appeared the examination on 15 th December 2016 and

secured 5.5 bands. After getting my IELTS scores I started searching for the universities who are
provide Master of Information Technology course. I started to make visit to educational agents

and education fairs to get an exact idea about the courses and country. After doing a research I

finalized on Central Queensland University for Master of Information Technology course. As I have

scored less in IELTS I’m going to study 10 weeks of elicos prior to starting my Master degree. I was

very much fine to undertake the English program as it would improve and polish my language

skills and improve my communication. Also, the skills will give me better way to present my

assignments and allow me to communicate in better manner. I started my admission process

through AECC global and started the financial document process which was been asked by

university. I applied for my offer letter on 11 th January 2017 and secured offer on 15 th February

2017. Thereafter I started my process for the finance and submitted the same for the financial

approval on 3rd April 2017 and received the approval on 10 th April 2017 and paid the fees on 18 th

April 2017. Due to late in the financial arrangement and the payment I couldn’t able to process my

visa application for April 2017/ July 2017 intake and had to defer intake for July 2017/ November

2017.
Family Background:

I belong to a nuclear family. My father is a businessman. My mother is a LIC agent. I have a

younger brother who is currently working in a Construction firm in India. My Father in Law runs a

construction business. My mother in Law is home-maker. My Sister in Law is married and settled in

India.

Why Not In India

As I have already attained 15 years of education in India. During these tenures, I realized the

education system that is been prevailing and been followed is very much outdated. The curriculum

doesn’t have industry exposure attached to it and is too much theoretical in nature.

In India if I to have persue my further master studies I must undertake GATE examination as a part

for the admission into good universities. As the examination is been given by 3-4 lakh people so

securing admission into good universities get very tough. The courses which are been available are

quite generic and it doesn’t have any kind of specialization. The courses which are been available

in my home country are Master of Computer Application and Master of Science (Computer

Application & Information technology). So, I thought rather than doing it from India it’s better to
do my master studies from Australia as I would get an internationally recognised degree and I

would be having more practically learning experience.

Australia is the 3rd largest country where the international student goes to persue their higher

education. It has 39 Public Universities so the selection of the course and universities becomes very

easy. Climatic conditions are quite similar towards to my home country. In UK, it provides only 1-

year degree which is not well recognized in India. In USA I, would have to appear for GRE

examination apart from the IELTS to secure an admission in university. Australia is a safe country in

terms of less crime ratio. Even there isn’t any kind of racism. It has a multicultural environment, so

an international student I would get an opportunity to study with students coming from different

part of the globe. Even the degree provided by Australia is well recognized worldwide. I chose

Australia as my preferred study destination. Australian Master degrees are usually of 2 years (4

academic study terms) and living expense is low as compared to USA and UK. The lifestyle and

quality of living in Australia is among the best in the world. Several of Australia’s capital cities

regularly rank among the world’s ‘most liveable’ cities. In 2014, the Economist Intelligence Unit's

Global Liveability Survey found that four Australian cities ranked in the world's top ten most

liveable cities. Melbourne, Adelaide, Sydney and Perth ranked first, fifth, seventh and ninth

respectively, a feat not achieved by any US or UK city. Australian education programs represent

great value for money. Australian courses are often shorter than alternatives in other countries,

particularly in the US Mostly all the Universities in Australia provides Scholarship on the basis on

the academic record in a very systematic manner unlike USA and UK. In Australia students like me

has an option to even pursue further Masters by Research which is an entry to PHD wherein other

countries this option is not available. The racism factor is almost nil in Australia. These facts made

me firm that the course from Australia would make an industry ready graduate.

Why Master of Information Technology

of engineering where I have completed my under graduate studies in Computer Engineering. I

have observed one thing that technology is becoming an integral part of our everyday life. More

specifically in stream of Engineering & Technology, Information technology plays its own unique
role, it serves as the backbone for almost all aspects of the modern world today – from healthcare

to education to retail and engineering sector.

Our present century is considered the era of ideas and information; today’s entire business world is

running on the information of various classification as per the required segments. It is also seen

today to perform any activity we need the complete information for the same hence here it comes

where information technology plays its own role, it deals with system to collect, store and retrieve

data effectively to serve the modern customer and business, this gives rising demand to

development of system performs this task effectively.

Talking about personal circumstance behind selecting this course is under this course I am getting

chance to select the elective of my interest to pursue to sketch my future in more effective and

accurate direction. Here I am getting, specialization in networking, mobile applications, software

development. Hence here under this course of study I will learn entire aspects in much more detail

along with practical exposure with this my skills and abilities will be increased in this field which

will enable to perform more efficiently along with this I will be equipped with the abilities to build

innovative systems. Also, as it comprises of major practical aspect of study, I will be exposed too

entire new and developed segment of this stream in Australia as this country is developed nation

with much advance technical facilities. Also, all these I will be getting with the enhance tag of

master studies, this will advance my over profile of education as well as working.

The course has 11 core subjects like Professional Skills in Information Communication Technology,

Information Systems Analysis and Design, Project Management Concepts, Introduction to

Programming, ICT Services Management, Database Design and Development, E-Business Systems,

Knowledge Audits for Business Analysis, Business Process Management, Business Intelligence using

Big Data, Information Systems Project. It has four electives Software Design and Development,

Network and Information Security, Mobile Application Development and Graduate Certificate of

Project Management. I would like to

I focused on this course and country because during my research I have not found any such course

under master studies in any country including India, that provides such specializations. It was

either available in diploma or certified course which were limited to just basic studies but here the

scenario was completely different as I have described the entire features above. Thus, this gave me

the confidence on my selection of course of master study that too at international platform which
will develop my overall personality traits. It has a 10 weeks of internship provision into the course

which would be quite beneficial for me.

Purpose of choosing this University

I have researched over the web for different universities and institutes which provides Master of

Information Technology course like Federation University, Swinburne University, Charles Sturt

University & Central Queensland University. CQU was established in 1967, so it is one of the

youngest universities in Australia. It has 16 campuses in cities such as Melbourne, Sydney,

Brisbane, Perth, Rockhampton, Adelaide, Bundaberg, Emerald, Gladstone, and Noosa. The

main campus is in North Rockhampton, Queensland. CQU has student support services like

student welfare, accommodation, airport transfer, academic learning centre. These services are very

helpful for students like academic learning issues. The class sizes are small so the student gets a

personalized attention. CQU provide student service such as Academic learning centre, welfare

support & career support for international student. University provide all the major student

support services like student welfare, accommodation, airport transfer but one service which I like

most is 24-hour student care. I have read many reviews from students who studied at the

University and everyone had a positive response about the University. Above that it has wide range

of courses available for undergraduate, Post- graduate, Master by coursework & master by

research student. CQU has full PHDS as well. The graduate employment is 81.1 % which is quite

higher than any of the other Australian Universities. The qualification from CQU is worldwide

recommended.

I have selected Brisbane campus, as it’s located in the center of the city. Public transportation is

easily available from this campus. Because of all these reasons I have selected university for my

study. CQ university offers Diploma, Bachelors, Postgraduate, Master by Coursework, Master by

Research and PHD degrees. CQU university has student library with 1000 of books online and as a

student I can access these for my studies. CQU is being ranked among the best universities in the

world, claiming a spot within the Top 500 list of the prestigious and well-respected Times Higher

Education World University Rankings 2016-17 –. The Excellence in Research for Australia (ERA)

2015 results show University is conducting research rated as at, above, and well above world

standards across

various research categories. It is one of the biggest regional universities with more than 16
campuses across Australia.
Reason to return home:

I would like to finish my master studies with good grades and come back to India. Being the elder

daughter of the family I have responsibilities towards my parents. Even my spouse is the youngest

son in his family so he has to take care of his parents & siblings responsibility and support them

during the time of need. My family has an asset worth Rs 2.5 crore which will be shared between

me and my siblings. My spouse will also inherit assests worth Rs 2.0 crore as a share from the

family. Apart from this we have friends & relatives in India and we are very close with them.

Career Plans:

India as a developing country it has an enormous potential in Information Technology field. It

is moving forward faster to transform itself into a developed nation. After gaining an

international experience and exposure which will help me in getting a good job in India’s cities like

Bangalore, Hyderabad, Pune and Mumbai and Gujarat in top Companies like IBM, Tata

Consultancy Services, POLARIS, PCS, HCL on different Senior and Managerial position like Team

Leader, Project Engineer, System Analyst, Business Development Manager, Senior test engineer,

Senior Web developer, or researcher in government research centres. The average salary

expectations would be around 5- 6 lakhs per annum which is worth the investment I would make

in Australia.

OBLIGATION UNDER 500 SUBCLASS:

 I need to maintain 80% attendance.

 I need to clear 50% of the subjects.

 I will be allowed to work for 40 hours per fortnight.

 I cannot change the university for 6 months upon the enrollment.

 I must have valid health insurance during the stay in Australia.

 I must notify to the University/DIBP if I change the address /contact details within 7 working

days.
