What Is Holistic Development

Holistic development involves the growth of an individual's mental, physical, social, emotional, and spiritual aspects. It views the person as a whole rather than separate parts. Descartes' theory of mind-body dualism proposed understanding things in a dualistic way, but gestalt theory argues that the whole is greater than the sum of its parts, as seen in a symphony or car. Understanding someone holistically means considering all aspects rather than in isolation. Attitude influences behavior, and attitude can change through changing behavior.
