NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF FASHION TECHNOLOGY

Introduction :
National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT) is a fashion institute in India. It was set up in
1986 under the aegis of the Ministry of Textiles, Government of India and is an institution of
design, management and technology for the international fashion business. NIFT was granted
statutory status in 2006, empowering it to award degrees and other academic distinctions.
With its head office in New Delhi, NIFT has centres at Mumbai, Kolkata, Kangra, Gandhinagar,
Hyderabad, Chennai, Bangalore, Raebareli, Patna, Shillong, Bhopal, Kannur, Bhubaneswar and
Jodhpur where it offers four-year bachelor and two-year master programmes in the areas of
Design, Management and Technology.
Aim :
 To provide skill development and promote the sector.
 It aims at establishing the benchmark for the quality of professionals that go into the fashion
industry.

Objective :
 The design of an open and free learning environment which inspires creative thinking.
 To design a campus which is in tune with the primary objective of the institution i.e. to
provide interdisciplinary and progressive knowledge of design but with a focused
understanding of an area of specialization.
Scope :
 There are various and a wide range of opportunities for NIFT’S in the upcoming years.
 It is a fast growing industry with art of developing new ideas in the form of fashion.

Limitation :

 To create an eco-friendly environment with proper arrangements of blocks and to ease the
problems of environment.
 Focus will be limited to layout the site with detail design of various space requirements with
emphasis on NATIONAL INSTITUTE OF FASHION TECHNOLOGY.

Need :
NIFT would help move into the global mainstream of intense economic competition and
reckoning with requirements of India's fashion industry in totality and Coimbatore industry
particularly.

Topic Justification :
It is the exposure in terms of internships with leading fashion designers and houses, both
national and international, that sets NIFT, Delhi apart from others in the industry.

NIFT has set academic standard and excelled in thought of leadership by providing a pool of
creative genius and technically competent professionals. The Institute provides a common
platform for fashion education, research and training.
