CHAPTER 2
For further understanding of the study, the researchers gather different reading materials
related to Interactive Kiosks, and reservation system. The list of related applications, website,
and thesis will help broadening the knowledge of the researchers about the said study. This will
also help to guide the researchers the objectives and functionalities of the application to be
achieved and get ideas on the related studies and literatures to further improve the functionalities
of the application.
A new feature of Central Square could allow those inside and outside of Auburn
to learn about the city's history, restaurants and current attractions. The Leadership
Auburn class of 2011 is planning to install a touch-screen kiosk on the pedestal in front of
the Pawnbrokers building in Central Square. Leadership Auburn hopes to have the
Auburn member. The kiosk could feature advertisements for businesses, a spoken history
upcoming events and more. The kiosk would have video capability as well as speakers
for sound, according to Schwab. Envision a large touch screen that you walk up to, and
kiosk more convenient for the visitors and students. But the proposed system limits a
interdisciplinary team of students and faculty. The objective was to develop a publicly
accessible kiosk that would facilitate the study of energy usage and production on
radio rotator. Solar panel output is monitored in real time and displayed to the public with
lights and digits that can be read by the casual passersby. While maximum power point
tracking is the most accurate means of quantifying the output power of a photovoltaic
panel, simplicity and design constraints dictated the use of short-circuit current as a proxy
for power. A touchscreen display allows kiosk visitors to compare two solar panels, an
automatic tracker that faces the sun, and an identical panel whose elevation and azimuth
can be controlled with a virtual joystick. This project was a capstone experience for
discuss technical challenges and design choices, as well as the educational goals of the
kiosk.
This will relate to the system that the proponents will develop. Both systems will
be useful for obtaining such significant information. The difference to them is the studys
kiosk is for learning purposes, and the proponents system is for information seeking
purposes.
2.1.3 Multimedia Kiosks in Retailing
Reviews the very wide potential for the application of multimedia kiosks. It is
important that all retailing organizations understand the scope of these applications since
kiosks have the potential for eroding the traditional boundaries between retailing,
banking, education and training and the provision of information and advice, both to the
many of these previously distinct areas could be interlinked. Currently, multimedia kiosks
are being tested in a number of different applications. Kiosks can be viewed as a medium
based transactions. Their potential attraction in all of these roles consists of their relative
novelty and the range of different media that can be used to reinforce the message. The
future for multimedia kiosks remains unclear. The present tests in a wide range of
different application areas should permit the identification of appropriate niches where
they can achieve at least one of the following: more effective communication of
A multimedia touch-screen kiosk was used to assess food safety knowledge and
convey food safety principles to 93 high school science teachers and 165 students. The
kiosk program based on the FightBAC messages informed users of correct responses
and reasons for the response. Teachers correctly answered more questions than students;
however, for the areas of hand washing, sources of foodborne illness, and handling of
leftover foods, at least 40% of both students and teachers provided incorrect answers.
Alabang Town Center Mall Guide System provides mall guide and find a store by
name and an option of letter A Z will appear. It also finds a store by category then
selects the desired category of stories and the user can view location map of the mall. The
System also displays the following movies currently showing for the week. Lastly, the
system displays upcoming and current events and promo which helps the mall attract
more people.
ATCs Mall guide system has different functionalities that will help mall goers
and shoppers roam around the mall without getting lost. It is similar to the proponents
proposed system in ways that they will both guide mall goers around Evia. The system
will also feature map guides and directories for the shops.

Information kiosk and touch screen technology is by far the best part of creating
device which can help a person understand their surrounding better, finding the right path
production of cars. Their TOUCH Screen Navigation System greatly helps driver know
his/her way around the metro or any other place within the Philippines. Using its touch
screen technology, the only need to press 1 to 3 buttons on the screen in order to find the
shortest way to their desired destination. The system provides a detailed turn-by-turn
description of the surrounding helping the driver maneuver much easier. Upgrades are
also available to the user of the system which regards to the direction.
This kind of interactive kiosk is currently installed to some of the Top of the
Line vehicles or we call latest brands of vehicles and is a big help for drivers. The
system features route map where the driver will just search for their destination and the
kiosk will automatically help the driver navigate through the route. This study can help
the proponents on how will they develop more convenient, user friendly kiosk for Evia
mall goers with just click of 2 3 buttons, it will lead costumers to their destinations.
access to product and services. Kiosks are most often deployed in situations where a
problem can be solved by giving people access to self-service tools. The Information
aimed to guide and give information about the convention center. It was developed to
help the attendants who are considered as the service priority of the system. C# is the
primary language used by the proponents to develop the system and MySQL for the
databases of the systems record. The proponents used Adobe flash CS5 for creating
animations for the system. The primary objective of the Information Kiosk system for
PICC is to give a better service quality, ease to use, and usefulness for convention center.
This study for PICC has the same purpose with the study for Evia to give
convenience for Evia shoppers. The proponents used Java as their primary programming
language and Adobe Flash CS6 for creating animation for the system.
experiences to mall goers, SM City Cebu has unveiled Community: An SM City Cebu
Public Art Piece by Kenneth Cobunpue at The Northwing Atrium of SM City Cebu.
Community is public art piece that shows harmony of form and function. It is a
sculptural installation that function as an interactive digital mall directory, the first in the
SM Group of Malls and the first of its kind in the country. Community is at the first
level of Northwing (between Bread Talk and Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf).
The interactive digital directory lets a shopper navigate through its touch-screen
feature to locate a specific shop in the mall, down to its contact details. Mall goers can
also check it out for the latest fashion trends, upcoming events, and promotions; sign the
