I feel so grateful and privileged to do this beautiful job, surrounded by music and incredible musicians. This past week has been nothing short of extraordinary: 🎶 Thursday, a club concert in our residence. ✨ Friday, our Golden Hall filled with energy as the incredible Tine Thing Helseth gave the world premiere of "Doom Painting" by Nico Muhly, conducted by Markus Poschner. 🎻 Saturday, the fantastic WDR Sinfonieorchester was our guest in our guest orchestras series, with Petr Popelka and the stunning Alexandre Kantorow, while our own Antwerp Symphony Orchestra took the stage at De Bijloke in Ghent. 👏 Sunday, back on stage with Antwerp Symphony at Bozar—every night ending with a standing ovation. And every evening, Antwerp Symphony Orchestra was simply phenomenal. 🎭 Today, supporting our chief-conductor designate Marc Albrecht who conducted a breathtaking premiere of Káťa Kabanová at Bayerische Staatsoper in Munich. Niet bij Doe Maar Mee! 🎈 Het Antwerp Symphony Orchestra creëerde, samen met dirigent Olivier Robe en bewegingscoach Andrew Greenwood, een unieke concertervaring voor iedereen die drempels ervaart bij gewone concerten. Met Doe Maar Mee wordt klassieke muziek niet alleen beluisterd, maar ook beleefd—beweging is niet alleen toegestaan, maar aangemoedigd! 💡 Waarom? Omdat muziek een bewezen positieve invloed heeft op het mentale welzijn. En die kracht van muziek moet voor iedereen toegankelijk zijn. It is with great enthusiasm that we welcome Marc Albrecht as our new chief conductor. From the first moment together, it was immediately clear that his vision and approach fit perfectly with the character of our orchestra, and his unique approach and rich experience will allow us to explore new territories together.
