Avatar: The Way of Water (2022)
All show, no substance
Visually, this movie is a masterpiece. The way they craft the world and the people is unique. From the forest, to the sea, this movie is something to behold. Watching the characters swim pass an endless parade of interesting and beautiful creatures was a treat!
However the story, much like in the original, is incredibly lacking. Humans are bad, save a few. The Na'Vi have something valuable the humans want. Conflict, fight scene with crazy machines and animals, then conclusion.
There's an apparent refusal to recast. Cast include blue Sigourney Weaver, blue general guy, and a few other blue faces that are indistinguishable from the rest. This felt like nothing but a cash grab. Big flashy scenes, with very little substance.
This is a "do not bother" for me. Wait until it's available to stream. It's not bad, just not able to live up to the hype.
Guillermo del Toro's Pinocchio (2022)
Truly amazing!
I literally only have one complaint. The reimagining is different, but gripping and still true to its source! The casting was flawless! The music and ocasional song meshed perfectly with the moment!
My one and only complaint is the length. It's about 35-40 minutes to long. I won't go into detail about which scenes I thought could use shaving, but suffice to say I found myself looking at the time left and thinking "yikes, how am I only halfway though this movie?"
I loved it. It made me laugh, cry and ponder many a question about the human soul. Def worth a watch, especially if you have a little time to kill lol.
The Bubble (2022)
Ignore the haters
It's an absolutely hilarious movie! Great take on the covid situation in regards to movie making. It's very rare for me to find a film where I like almost every character. They mesh very well together. I'm genuinely shocked by the negative reviews and the IMDB rating.
It's not a perfect film by any standard, but it's a good laugh and I think that's exactly what they were going for(and nailed in my opinion), just a silly and good time. Don't take it so seriously.
The Legend of Vox Machina (2022)
Ignore the haters
A lot of these fools who keep giving it a low rating have no idea how much work and time it took to make, not only the show, but also the source material. Countless hours upon hours of people making these grand stories and characters. To see it come to life in animation is glorious!
I swear, most of the people giving low reviews would look at the Mona Lisa and say "so what? What's the big deal? If it wasnt made by a famous guy then no one would like it." Without any idea of the effort that went into such a task.
Please ignore them. Try the show. If it's not your cup of tea, then luckily there's lots of other stuff to watch.
Thank you for reading.
Crossing Swords (2020)
Worth a watch!
It's not perfect. Don't expect intelligent writing or deep characters. Just accept it's a goofy show, good for some laughs and chuckles! It's not gonna be for everyone, but I think it's worth a shot
Community: The Art of Discourse (2010)
Yikes
This episode, like all the rest, has a decent amount of laughs. But the overall story of this episode makes it unwatchable. I'm currently rewatching community for the millionth time and I always skip this episode. The high school kids, as well as Britta and Jeff are painfully unfunny and immature. Yikes
The I-Land (2019)
Bad actors
Not every story can be a winner, but when the acting is so atrocious you can't even get into the characters, you've done something very wrong.
In my head I thought Netflix made good original content, but I guess they just have a good advertisement team. Maybe focus on casting directors next time
Final Space: The Lost Spy (2019)
Weak follow up to last weeks amazing episode
This episode felt unnecsary
And the ending, where we find out why Gary's mom hates him was really lame.
The super spy, who infiltrated the infinity guard(IG) for an unknown and mysterious group to seduce and find out top secret info from a IG member, decided to have her top secret briefing/meeting with her bosses IN THE LIVING ROOM OF THE MAN SHE WAS SPYING ON! She didn't even make sure he wasn't home, or even move to a more discreet spot, she just had the convo in the middle of the room and was caught, then turns to baby Gary and says "I wish you were never born" like it was his fault she was so dumb?!?
It was really bad writing.
Doragon Bôru Sûpâ Burorî (2018)
I was enthralled
Absolutely captivating movie!! Amazing new take on broly, and a perfect combination with pre existing characters that makes for an incredibly immersive experience! Hands down best film I've seen in a while!
I wish I could give more then 10 stars
