The Wild Robot (2024)
Amazing
I went to this latest DreamWorks animated film at the Omniplex in Rathmines, Dublin, Ireland today (19th October 2024). It's absolutely amazing. I just love it. The animation looks very colourful and it has a same style as Puss in Boots: The Last Wish which came out in 2022. The voice acting is great especially from Mark Hamill and Catherine O'Hara themselves.
DreamWorks Animation, a subsidiary of Comcast whose division is NBCUniversal are total genius. They have done their brilliant job.
This is probably one of the best animated films I've ever seen in my life.
If you're a fan of robots, you'll definitely enjoy this!
Silent Hill 2 (2024)
Great remake
I played this remake of the original 2001 one for the first time on Sony PS5 on the 8th October 2024 and I finished it yesterday (17th October 2024). It's a great remake and I love it! It's kinda very creepy especially the hospital but it's still worth playing.
I like both the original and the remake versions. They're both brilliant. I cannot prefer so who cares which one is better anyway?
I'm delighted that Konami has brought back Silent Hill and it's all thanks to the Polish team Bloober Team. Fair play to them.
It's probably one of the best video game remakes I've ever played in my life!
I always love Silent Hill. It's my favourite horror video game series of all time and Silent Hill 2 is my favourite one in the series as well.
Oggy et les Cafards (1986)
Entertaining
I used to love this French cartoon when I was a kid. It was shown on UTV via ITV as a part of their children's block CITV years ago. It was shown on RTÉ 2, POP and Nicktoons. I heard it was shown on Fox Kids (then Jetix, now defunct Disney XD UK and Ireland) years ago.
It's kinda very entertaining and funny. We know the characters don't talk but they laugh, scream, cry, use body gestures and sometimes they speak Gibberish.
The blue feline Oggy is always attempting to get rid of three pesky cockroaches for causing mischiefs like playing pranks and tricks on Oggy and attempting to steal his food especially from the refrigerator.
If you enjoy watching Tom and Jerry cartoons, you'll like it.
Digimon: Digital Monsters (1999)
Very good anime
I remember watching Digimon when I was a preteen. It was shown on RTÉ 2 and UTV via ITV as a part of their children's block CITV years ago. I heard it was shown on Fox Kids (then Jetix, now defunct Disney XD UK and Ireland) years ago.
We know Bandai Namco's Digimon is definitely not a rip-off of The Pokémon Company and Nintendo's Pokémon. Not because of their names sound very similar. They're just completely different, aren't they?
My favourite Digimon are Agumon, Angemon, Greymon, Lillymon, Garurumon, Togemon, Veemon, Angewomon, Gabumon and Guilmon. Also my favourite human Digimon characters are Tai, Joe, Sora, Mimi, Davis, Kari (her child version) and Rika. I thought I had a crush on Sora, Mimi and Kari (her child version) when I was a preteen.
I like both Pokémon and Digimon. I cannot prefer so who cares which one is better anyway?
Jumanji (1996)
Underrated 1990s cartoon
I remember watching this 1990s cartoon (we know it's based on the 1995 film of the same name) when I was a kid. It was shown on RTÉ 2, UTV via ITV as a part of their children's block CITV and Nickelodeon years ago. It's probably one of the most underrated 1990s cartoons of all time. I still like it though. The acting is great especially from Bill FagerBakke (same bloke who voices Patrick Star, SpongeBob's simple-minded best friend from SpongeBob Squarepants as we know as well ), Deby Derryberry, Ashley Joshson and of course, Tim Curry themselves.
I think I have a crush on Judy. Judy is a very cute girl, isn't she?
My favourite characters are Alan, Judy, Peter, Trader, Van Pelt and Professor J. S. Ibsen.
J'ai perdu mon corps (2019)
Amazing.
In summer 2020, I watched this 2019 French adult animated film for the first time on Netflix (UK and Ireland) and it was brilliant but one of the parts of this film where the severed hand strangles the bird to kill it is kinda very unsettling. I thought I never saw any foreign animated films like that before in my entire life. Its animation looks beautiful and colourful. I absolutely love it. It's probably one of the best foreign animated films I've ever seen in my life.
We know it is produced by a French animation studio Xilam who is famous for its project, Oggy and the Cockroaches.
I think it is the third French animated film I've ever seen after The Triplets of Belleville (2003) and Persepolis (2007).
It's about the story of a young fella named Naoufel who is in love with Gabrielle, a beautiful young woman. In another part of town, a severed hand escapes from a dissection lab after a horrible accident and it is determined to find its body again.
If you love French animated films, you'll definitely enjoy it!
I'd love to watch it again someday.
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (2024)
Very good
On Friday the 13th September 2024, I saw Beetlejuice Beetlejuice at the Omniplex in Rathmines, Dublin, Ireland. It was very good. The first one might be better but I like them both. I am impressed that Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, and Catherine O'Hara have reprised their roles alongside new cast members such as Jenna Ortega who plays Lydia's teenage daughter Astrid as we know. Unfortunately unlike its 1988 prequel, Geena Davis and Alec Baldwin (who played Barbara and Adam Maitland) aren't in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. Not even have a cameo appearance. None of the original cast members rather than Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder and Catherine O'Hara have appeared in the same film either. I do not know why Tim Burton/Warner Bros. Decided not to add Geena Davis and Alec Baldwin to Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.
Anyway I thought Beetlejuice was going to be a standalone film so Warner Bros. Made a 2024 sequel of it.
If you are a fan of Beetlejuice, you'll like this.
It (1990)
It's still worth watching
I watched this 1990 American mini TV series for the first time on DVD (UK and Ireland) in early June 2024. It's good but it's also very scary. We know it's about an evil clown named Pennywise. We also know it's based on the 1986 book by Stephen King.
By the way the acting is good especially from the British fella Tim Curry himself. He sure did his great job for playing the evil mad clown.
That poor kid named Georgie got killed by an evil clown whilst attempting to retrieve his paper boat from the gutter during the rain. That is so gruesome. I thought I was shocked and said, "OH MY GOD!"
It may be perfect for Halloween.
Bubsy 3D (1996)
More like Dudsy 3D
I've actually never played Bubsy 3D (not even when I was a kid nor teenager) but I've heard it's one of the worst video games of all time. I've only seen some previews of it on the internet like YouTube and the graphics seem to look really bad and cheap. Its controls seem to be very awkward. Bubsy never shuts up during the gameplay. He may drive many players mad by yapping all the time.
I'd say Bubsy must have been a total disgrace to the PlayStation system.
I'd better off without playing Bubsy 3D.
Thankfully I've played Super Mario 64. I'm sure Super Mario 64 is definitely way better than that lousy PS1 game.
I hope Atari won't add this PS1 game to the PS Plus for Sony PS5 and PS4 anytime in the future.
If you're reading this, don't buy it! Avoid it as you would an arrow.
Alien: Romulus (2024)
It's alright
I saw Alien: Romulus at the Savoy (Dublin) by my own on Sunday the 25th August 2024. It might not be good as the other ones which are directed by Ridley Scott especially the first one from the early 1980s. I think I might prefer to Ridley Scott films but this one is alright for myself and I still like it though. It's a shame that Alien: Romulus isn't directed by Ridley Scott himself. I don't know why he hasn't involved in this latest Alien film. Anyway the acting is pretty good like from Cailee Spaeny and David Jonsonn themselves.
I might watch it again when it comes out on DVD, Blu-Ray and Disney Plus.
Alien (1979)
Timeless
Yesterday I watched this 1979 British-American science fiction horror film on Disney Plus (UK and Ireland) via my Samsung phone. It's very scary but it's absolutely brilliant and I love it. The acting is great especially from Sigourney Weaver herself. It never gets old and it will always be a timeless classic. It's probably the best science film horror film I've ever seen!
We know it follows the crew of the commercial space tug Nostromo, who, after coming across a mysterious derelict spaceship on an uncharted planetoid, find themselves up against a deadly and aggressive extraterrestrial loose within their vessel. It's actually based on a story by O'Bannon and Ronald Shusett (Gosh, I did not even know).
Ridley Scott sure is a real genius and he did a great job for directing this film from the early 1980s.
If you are fan of science fiction, you'll love this.
Kneecap (2024)
Crude but brilliant
I saw this film at the IFI Cinema in my home city of Dublin, Ireland on Saturday the 17th August 2024. It's kinda crude but it's brilliant and also very funny. I laughed a bit. The acting is very good.
This film is produced in both Ireland and Northern Ireland (known as the North as I refer to) as we know.
It's probably one of the best Irish-language films of all time. I've been learning Irish for a long time. I always love learning Irish. Irish is one of my favourite foreign languages to learn. It's a really interesting language.
If you love learning Irish, you'll definitely enjoy this film.
Ratatoing (2007)
Go and watch Ratatouille instead
I've only seen some bits of it on YouTube before. It's absolutely terrible! Its animation looks really cheesy and ugly as well. I even thought I never saw any foreign rip-offs like that before in my entire life. It's definitely a total rip-off of Disney-Pixar's beloved 20o7 film Ratatouille. It's one of the worst animated films I've ever seen!
Ratatoing is more like Cr*p-atoing or maybe T**t-atoing!
That Brazilian company Video Brinquedo should be ashamed of this horrible ripoff. They definitely should be sued by Pixar or their parent company The Walt Disney Company due to its copyright infringement too, you know.
I'd say Ratatouille is way better than that lousy cheap piece of junk!
Don't watch it! Don't attempt to waste your money on this rubbish on DVD nor Blu-Ray! Go and watch Ratatouille instead.
Sherlock Gnomes (2018)
Not very good
I remember I saw this at the Savoy Dublin with my friend in spring/summer 2018. It isn't very good as its 2011 sequel. It's kinda bland and mediocre. Unlike its 2011 sequel, it is disturbed by Paramount Pictures and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) instead of Disney. I don't know why Disney hasn't been involved in it and I don't know why it is distrubuted by Paramount Pictures and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) either. It doesn't even make any sense to me after all. I even thought the Gnomeo and Juliet franchise belonged to Disney.
At least the voice acting is pretty decent especially from Johnny Depp and Emily Blunt themselves.
If you are reading this, don't watch it! Don't even attempt to waste your time on this stupid film on DVD nor Blu-Ray. Go and watch Gnomeo and Juliet instead.
Courage the Cowardly Dog (1999)
One of my favourite Cartoon Network shows of all time.
I used to love this Cartoon Network programme when I was a preteen and teenager. It was shown on RTÉ 2 in the 2000s. I heard it was shown Cartoon Network years ago. It's a great show but it has some very frightening and disturbing moments such as a violin girl who has a monster's/demon's face. It is one of my favourite cartoons of all time and my favourite characters are Courage, Muriel, Eustace, Le Quack and Katz as well.
We know it's about a timid but loyal canine named Courage who lives with his owners Muriel (a sweet kind Scottish elderly woman) and her mean grouchy husband Eustace who is always being very mean towards Courage like calling him, 'Stupid dog!' in a fictional American town called Nowhere. They frequently encounter monsters, aliens, zombies, and other paranormal or supernatural creatures like ghosts that are attracted to Nowhere.
This series never gets old and it will always be a timeless classic.
Sonic the Hedgehog (2006)
Not very good
I used to play this Sonic game on Sony PS3 and Microsoft Xbox 360 when I was a teenager. I thought I it was going to be ace but it's actually not very good as the other Sonic games . It doesn't even make any sense to me. It appears to have too many bugs and glitches. Its loading times is very slow. The game itself is kinda very cumbersome and disappointing. It is being considered not only the worst games in the Sonic franchise but also among one of the worst video games of all time. At least the music is good.
The Japanese company Sega, a subsidiary of Sega Sammy Holdings Ltd. Should be ashamed of this bad Sonic game.
If you're reading this, don't buy it. Don't attempt to waste your money on this rubbish. Avoid it as you would a bullet.
Go and play some classic Sonic games instead.
Deadpool & Wolverine (2024)
It's weird but it's a good film.
Yesterday (05-08-2024) I saw Deadpool and Wolverine at the Cineworld Dublin with my friend. It's weird but it's a good film. I like it though. We know it stars the Canadian fella Ryan Reynolds and the Aussie fella Hugh Jackman as well. Their acting is great by the way.
There is a damaged 20th Century Fox (now 20th Century Studios but I still don't care) statue in this film where Deadpool and Wolverine are being sent to the future by some bad guy. That's kinda depressing, isn't it? That's why it has been bought by Disney since spring 2019.
If you like Marvel films, you'll definitely enjoy this.
Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends (2004)
It's alright
I remember watching this Cartoon Network programme when I was a teenager. It was shown on TG4 (formerly known as TnaG) in the 2000s and it was dubbed in Irish Gaeilge. It was also shown on UTV via ITV as a part of their children's block CITV in the 2000s. I heard it was shown on Cartoon Network years ago.
It's alright for myself but it looks very good and interesting. The animation looks very nice.
I think my favourite character in Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends is Eduardo. I know he's voiced by Tom Kenny (same bloke who is famous for voicing SpongeBob Squarepants from the same name of the cartoon by one of Cartoon Network's competitiors Nickelodeon).
If you are fan of Cartoon Network, you'll enjoy this.
The Powerpuff Girls (1998)
Probably one of the best Cartoon Network programmes of all time
I used to watch The Powerpuff Girls when I was a kid and teenager. It was shown on RTÉ 2 in the 2000s. I heard it was shown on Cartoon Network years ago. I think it was shown on UTV via ITV as a part of their children's block CITV years ago but I am not too sure.
It's a really good cartoon.
My favourite character is Buttercup and my favourite villain is Mojo Jojo as well.
The voice acting is great especially from Tom Kenny and Tara Strong themselves.
Forget its silly 2016 reboot, it's probably one of the best Cartoon Network programmes of all time. It never gets old. It will always be a timeless classic.
If you're a fan of superheroes, you'll definitely enjoy this cartoon.
Twisters (2024)
Good sequel
I saw this at the Omniplex in Rathmines, Dublin, Ireland on Sunday the 21st July 2024 and it was a good film. I liked it. I thought I hadn't realised that underrated 1996 film Twister had been planning a sequel and I also thought Twister was going to be a stand alone film. The acting is great like from stars Daisy Edgar-Jones, Glen Powell, Anthony Ramos, Brandon Perea, Maura Tierney, and Sasha Lane.
The beginning of the film is kinda very upsetting because the three of storm chasers are killed by a tornado but only Kate and Javi survive.
If you are a fan of disaster films, you'll definitely enjoy it!
Bambi (1942)
Timeless masterpiece
I remember watching some bits of this Disney animated film from the 1940s on VHS when I was a kid. Now I have it on DVD. It's very good. Its animation is beautiful and colourful. It's one of my favourite Disney films of all time. It never gets old and it will always be a timeless classic. That's why I always love deer.
We know it's about a little deer named Bambi whose mother was shot and killed by an evil hunter. It is really sad, isn't it? It is probably one of the saddest Disney moments we've ever seen. This may make many Disney fans cry.
If you are a fan of deer, you'll definitely love this.
Superman (1999)
I've heard it's terrible
I actually never played it on N64 before (not even when I was a kid nor a teenager) but I've heard it's one of the worst video games of all time. I've only seen some previews it on the internet and the graphics seem to look cheesy and cr*ppy. Its gameplay doesn't make any sense to me at all. The now-defunct French video game company Titus should be absolutely ashamed of that awful N64 game.
We hope Interplay (which currently owns the Titus catalogue)/Warner Bros. Aren't going to add this to Nintendo Switch Online sometime in the future. If they already have, don't play it on Nintendo Switch! Don't download it from PS Store, Microsoft Store, Steam or GOG.com if it is available either!
I'd better off without playing it.
Batman: The Animated Series (1992)
Probably one of the best 1990s cartoons ever
I used to love this 1990s superhero cartoon when I was a kid. It's one of my favourite 1990s cartoons of all time. It's a great cartoon. The voice acting is fantastic especially from Mark Hamill. He sure has done a great job for voicing the madman, The Joker as we know. It was shown on UTV via ITV as a part of their children's block CITV, RTÉ 2 and Sky 1 (now Sky Showcase as much of its content library has been moved to Sky Max since 2021) years ago.
The series never get old and it will always be a timeless classic.
Warner Brothers are total geniuses.
I am 34 years old and I am still watching it.
Batman & Robin (1997)
Not great as Tim Burton's 1989 film Batman and its 1992 sequel
I've only seen some bits of this 1997 superhero film. I thought it was going to be amazing but I've heard it's absolutely rubbish and it's probably one of the worst 1990s films of all time. It's not great as Tim Burton's 1989 film Batman and its 1992 sequel. It seems to look terrible. I'd say Batman (1989) and its 1992 sequel are definitely way better than that lousy Batman film but I am not sure about Batman Forever (1995). Besides I think I've only seen some bits of Batman Forever (1995) before and it seems to look alright for myself.
If you are reading this, don't buy it on DVD or Blu-Ray and don't even try to waste your money on it! Avoid it as you would a bullet. Watch Batman (1989) and its 1992 sequel instead.
Hercules (1997)
One of my favourite Disney films of all time
I've watched Disney's Hercules loads of times and it's absolutely amazing. It's one of my favourite Disney films of all time. My favourite songs are Go the Distance, One Last Hope, The Gospel Truth I/Main Titles as well. The voice acting is great especially from Danny DeVito and James Woods themselves. The animation looks beautiful and colourful.
Back in December 1997, I went to see it at the Ormonde Stillorgan (then UCI, now Odeon Stillorgan in Dublin, Ireland) with my school in and I was seven years old in that year. I thought it was the first film I ever saw at cinemas. It was the only film I saw at cinemas in 1997 too.
I always loved that Disney film.
If you're fan of Greek myths and legends, you'll definitely love it.
