Dios mio! Warner Bros. Animation and DC Studios are scuttling toward expanding the reach of Blue Beetle with a new animated series. Miguel Puga has been working on the Blue Beetle animated series since early 2024 and will act as the project’s showrunner and director, with Cristian Martinez writing the scripts.
Angel Manuel Soto and Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer, the top talent behind DC’s 2023 film, return for the Blue Beetle animated series as executive producers alongside John Richard. Galen Vaisman, who helped executive produce the movie, oversees the animated adaptation. Casting for the project remains a mystery, though Deadline says DC is in contact with multiple stars from the live-action film. Although deals still need to be implemented, their response was positive.
The Blue Beetle animated series continues the story started in Soto’s live-action film. If audiences connect with the animated series, DC could continue the story in a new live-action sequel.

The entire country these days is hooked on chanting Jai Shri Ram, thanks to Ram Mandir’s Inauguration in Ayodhya, scheduled on January 22. But while we sit at home and watch the parts of the temple on our screens, we decided to take you on a nostalgia trip while you remember and recall Ramayan scenes, episodes, and chapters.
This piece includes actors from your memories of the past. The actors whom you have watched play the most beloved names from Hindu scriptures – Lord Ram, Devi Sita, Lord Hanuman, and more.
It was Ramanand Sagar’s Ramayan that brought these characters alive on screen, and while it is a long wait to tour Ayodhya and Ram Mandir, we thought to brush your memories about the actors who played characters from Ramayan on screen.

Bollywood A-list actor Ayushmann Khurrana scored another major hit in 2023 with comedy sequel “Dream Girl 2.” But he is still happy to have achieved what he describes as “validation.”
The film was one of several medium budget Hindi-language films that became box office successes, including “Omg 2,” “Mrs. Chatterjee vs Norway,” “Zara Hatke Zara Bachke,” “Satyaprem Ki Katha” and “12th Fail.” These effectively debunked the notion that only big budget spectacles like “Pathaan” or “Jawan” would work at the post-pandemic Bollywood box office, which had a poor 2022.
“There was a conspiracy theory, maybe a year back, that Indian audiences [were] only looking for spectacles or larger-than-life films, but this year, a lot of films, which not really big budget but mid budget, did really well,” Khurrana told Variety. ”Dream Girl 2′ did well, so did ‘Omg 2,’ and ‘Gadar 2’ was technically also a mid budget film. Indian filmmaker Ravi Muppa will adapt his Oscar-qualifying short “Incognito” into a feature-length film.
The executive producers of the short, Indian auteur Anurag Kashyap (“Kennedy”) and Ranjan Singh (“Udta Punjab”) under the Flip Films banner and Nicholas Weinstock and Divya D’Souza of Invention Studios, are reuniting to produce the feature.
In “Incognito,” a lonely motel receptionist makes an extra buck by selling the hidden-cam videos of his unsuspecting guests on the internet. But when one such guest turns out to be a young girl at risk of being trafficked, he faces a crisis of conscience and a mission.
“Incognito” has been selected at more than 20 international film festivals, including the Oscar-qualifying Palm Springs Shortfest, Tirana and LA Shorts, and is a 2024 Oscar contender in the live action short film category, where candidates from India include “Nocturnal Burger” and “The Broken Table.”

Bhumi Pednekar stars as Kanika Kapoor, a Delhi food blogger and serial monogamist, who has spent her adult life seeking a satisfying love match, both emotionally and physically, but has never had an orgasm. The morning after her engagement to a dull suitor, she wakes up satisfied, but can’t remember who’s responsible.
The film is written by two women, Radhika Anand (“Broken But Beautiful”) and stand up comic Prashasti Singh and directed by a man, Karan Boolani, making his feature directing debut. Boolani previously directed series “24: India” for Viacom18’s Colors channel and Netflix’s “Selection Day.”

"I fell completely in love with the role, and somewhere in the back of my mind, I knew it had the potential to change my life. Of course, I had no idea that people would probably know me as ‘Hathoda Tyagi’. I have to constantly try and do something which is as exciting as Hathoda, which is going to be very difficult," actor Abhishek Banerjee tells Ians.
The actor will soon be seen in the Short ‘Sex, Likes and Stories’, directed by Keith Gomes on an iPhone, where he plays the character of ‘Chokra Boy’, hailing from a simple social and economic background who uses the social media to pretend to be someone else and tries to live a completely different life. Banerjee smiles that the character is completely opposite to who he is. "I am who I am. Believe me, I cannot even pretend in an interview with a media person.

Spoiler Alert for those who have not seen the film “Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui.”
Bollywood A-lister Ayushmann Khurrana headlines the cast of transgender-themed romance “Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui,” which is currently on release worldwide.
Across Indian cinema as a whole, trans characters have been portrayed sensitively as leads of films like “Daayra” (1996) “Tamanna” (1998), “Just Another Love Story” (2010), “Nanu Avanalla Avalu” (2015), “Njan Marykutty” (2018) and “Super Deluxe” (2019). However their representation in mainstream commercial Bollywood cinema veers between villainous characters, like Sadashiv Amrapurkar’s Maharani in “Sadak” (1991), and crude comedy parts. “Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui” is unique in that it brings a trans character to the fore in Bollywood.
Khurrana plays Manvinder Munjal, a macho gym instructor in the northern Indian city of Chandigarh, who is smitten with Maanvi Brar, a Zumba teacher who shares his work space. They consummate their relationship and decide to get married when Maanvi reveals that she used to be a...

The female-driven crime drama Cadejo Blanco has unveiled a clip in advance of its screening at the Toronto International Film Festival’s Industry Selects section. Cadejo Blanco is reminiscent of Maria Full of Grace and Miss Bala, addressing timely issues of lack of opportunities for women, youth violence, and indiscriminate crime in Guatemala. Writer/director Justin Lerner spent years in Guatemala interviewing young people with gang affiliations, collecting their life stories. For authenticity, he cast his interview subjects to play themselves in the film, and then spent a year doing acting workshops with them. He encouraged each actor to revise the script as they saw necessary, even during shooting, a process that allowed the non-professional cast to ensure their stories were being properly represented on screen.

‘Cobra Kai’ actor Xolo Maridueña has entered into negotiations to star in HBO Max and DC Film’s ‘Blue Beetle.’
The story will centre on the 2006 Jamie Reyes iteration of the character – a Mexican-American teenager who discovers the Blue Beetle scarab on the way home from school with two of his best friends Paco and Brenda, the trinket half-buried in a disused lot.
Reyes takes the scarab home, curious as to what it might be. That night, it comes alive and grafts itself to the base of Jaime’s spine – providing him with a suit of extraterrestrial armour that can be modified to enhance his speed and strength as well as to create weapons, wings, and shields.

Mumbai, March 12: Bollywood filmmaker Dinesh Vijan has bank-rolled films such as Badlapur, Bala and Stree among many others. The filmmaker agrees with the advent of digital and satellite rights, the risk factor for a producer incurring losses has reduced.
"Digital is a significant contributor but the difference for me is that the audience chooses to go to a theatre and watch a film, so it is a more challenging or daunting task to do -- because you need to engage your viewer to come and watch and like film," Vijan said.
He firmly believes that a "true perception" of a film comes with its theatrical release.
"It's a very reactive medium but, yes, with the advent of new avenues, digital and satellite takeaway comprise a considerable amount of your risk even if you go theatrical. But if it runs in theatres there are so many years of legacy that stays,...

Sanjana DeshpandeThe films of a nation become a way for people to delve into its culture and society. Across the globe, among the masses, the Indian cinema industry has always been synonymous with Bollywood. However, India has several film industries and the films that each makes are also unique. Just when you begin to think that 2021 can’t get any worse, Ginny Weds Sunny comes along, a film so devoid of qualities you struggle for two hours thinking of a reason why you should see this abomination to its conclusion when simply giving up and walking off would be a better option.
For those who have been trying to convince you into believing that ‘Ginny’ Yami Gautam and ‘Sunny’ Vikrant Massey can actually sustain an anorexic imbecilic plot about a man who can’t find a suitable match and a woman who can’t decide whom to marry and her immature spoilt rich fiancé who wants it all and wants it now (dial ‘M’ for Manmarziyan) , here’s the thing: sorry, they can’t.

Actor Divyendu Sharma recently played a pivotal role in the digital film "Shukranu" that deals with the struggle of a man after sterilisation. The film, set against the backdrop of Emergency in 1975, makes the point that we need to stop practising toxic masculinity if we want to see a gender-neutral society.
"The definition of masculinity is changing, and I look at it as a positive change. With the kind of subjects that we are exploring in mainstream cinema, a dialogue has started. She has done some of the finest make-up and prosthetic work in Bollywood. We are talking about the award-winning Preetisheel Singh. Among the many directors she has worked with, some of her best transformations have been for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s epic films.
Preetisheel first worked with Sanjay Leela Bhansali on Bajirao Mastani where she curated Ranveer Singh’s look in the film. Then she got a second chance to work with the prolific filmmaker with Padmaavat. For this film, she not only worked on the stunning looks of Deepika Padukone and Shahid Kapoor, but designed the look once again for Ranveer Singh, this time transforming him as the intimidating Alauddin Khilji.
And now, Bhansali has repeated Preetisheel to curate the look for Alia Bhatt for his upcoming saga Gangubai Kathiawadi.
“Working with Sanjay Sir is one of the most important milestones of my career,” says Preetisheel. “It feels surreal.
