- Kyle Davidson and Jenna Pendrell have had an antagonistic relationship ever since they long ago worked as corporate lawyers for the same firm, Kyle who has always looked out for number one with he playing on clients' short term interests, while Jenna has been big picture, looking out for the greater good. That professional relationship turned personal when his sister Trisha and her brother Jim met ten years ago, fell in love and got married. Kyle and Jenna have since been forced to spend holidays together as "family". While Kyle tolerates Jenna, he has not made peace with his father Christopher Davidson, who was not there for him, Trisha or their now deceased mother when Kyle and Trisha were children. That relationship has shaped Kyle into the man he is today. As Christopher is now a changed man, Trisha however has made peace with him. They are all descending on Jim, Trisha and their adolescent daughter Karen's home in Brooklyn as usual for Christmas, this year more important with child number two on the way. Out of circumstance, Kyle and Jenna arrive a bit later and together on Christmas Eve, just as Trisha is going into labor and heading to the hospital leaving Kyle and Jenna to sit with Karen. The timing of the labor is perfect as all the talk in the Pendrell house has been their upcoming offspring potentially being the Christmas baby, a radio contest with a plethora of prizes given to first baby born in the city on Christmas day. While Jim and Trisha are at the hospital, Kyle and Jenna discover some information about Jim and Trisha's situation which make Kyle and Jenna, with Karen in tow, work together to help Jim and Trisha out of their bind. In the process, the three get into one misadventure after another which makes their collective straits, and that of some of the people they encounter along the way, increasingly dire. But as one of those people states that everything happens for a reason, those misadventures may be in part so that Kyle and Jenna can build bridges to face their true feelings, especially important in the spirit of Christmas.—Huggo
