Genius.
My son introduced me to the YouTube series and then the songs were permanently in my head. A seemingly harmless show which devolves into dark and twisted chaos before the clouds of naivety block the receptors again and we and the characters go back to our blind conformity.
The first episode looks to be based the following day if the calendar is to be trusted which it could just as likely not be. One minute your going with the flow of lights and colours and tunes and the next your eyes and bleeding and you realise you've been breathing the toxic fumes of betrayal. In other words it looks like fun and games but perl the Veneer away and see the rot within.
Well Done Joseph, Becky and co.

Don't Hug Me I'm Scared is back and weirder than ever!
The genius British web-series created by Joseph Pelling and Becky Sloan has been green lit for a while. And after years of setbacks and delays, it's finally here.
The show is toned down and different from the original version. Much slower, and the episodes are mostly dark throughout rather than having a horrifying build-up. That said, it's different, but still a great show. The songs are still catchy, the puppet work is still impressive, and the humor is still.
Honestly, I am disappointed that we didn't get Wakey-Wakey, and that most of us will probably never see it. From what is on the internet. Wakey-Wakey seemed much more in the spirit of the original. However, this new take on DHMIS is still great, and just another reason why everyone should watch the original show.

Absolutely Brilliant Show
I remember watching and loving the original YouTube episodes years ago, and boy were they something else. These long-form episodes continue the brilliance.
"Messed up seaseme street" is a common trope, but Don't Hug Me I'm Scared is the peak. The songs are catchy, the characters lovable, and the storytelling just the right balance of charming and terrifying.
This definitely has a different vibe from the original YouTube shorts, but not for the worse. I immediately felt like re-watching all six episodes again after finishing, and I am sure I'll re-watch them again shortly after that. Fantastic job!

Absolutely horrifying
Don't hug me I'm scared is quite simply a very entertaining comedy horror while also parodying the style of children's television shows.
This show is scary. More so than the original YouTube shorts. Not only does it body horror shock you to the core but it's psychological horror is also surprisingly effective.
This show is also absolutely hilarious. It's fantastic sence of deadpan humour really juxtaposed the sheer horror of the situation at hand and also never interrupts the horror when it goes full on.
The show tricks you with long stretches of unsettling comedy only to be suddenly hit with sudden and extreme violence.
You will never predict it's next move story wise, that is for certain.
Absolutely watch it, there is nothing quite like it.

A review from someone who hasn't watched the youtube series.
There has to be someone I can personally thank for this masterpiece.
I saw this series after my friend begged me to give it a go. I didn't know I was supposed to start with older videos from 2011-2016 to get more information on the characters. Well, that background information wasn't needed at all. I was in awe of how perfectly DHMIS brought nostalgic seseme street like stories and terrifying surreal horror together. I was very attached to the main characters at the end, which wasn't something I had in my expectations for this show. The offputting and terrifying endings to each episode put together paint a story likely about grief and loss. I'm looking forward to hopefully a second season or more episodes to come!

Masterpiece.
Honestly this is the best ad probably the only good animated horror we've gotten recently next to mad god, and that one still got a little rusty, and besides for that movie we barely got a glimpse at good horror animation maybe even since 2012, i can't even start to believe what this Youtube internet series has become, it is incredible and i barely can see anything wrong with it at all
i'm so glad this show exists and i'm also glad that the gore isn't terrible looking and overused in one whole scene, and when they try to make it seem like a "sesame street clone" and they don't fail at doing so, amazing show, really.

Original and unnerving
I first saw Don't Hug Me I'm Scared back when it was originally released an eternity ago. Checked occasionally to see if they plan on releasing new episodes and was happy to see a new season uploaded on YouTube. The show gets 10/10 for originality and the ability to induce existential fear into viewers. They seem to have cracked a formula that combines story, visuals dialog and editing that makes people feel extremely uncomfortable. Based on the low number of ratings and reviews on Imdb (15 at the times of writing), this show is by definition a hidden gem and I hope it gets recognised soon so that we can keep seeing more of it.
Most unique show I have ever watched
First off I just want to start by saying how much the wait was worth. It was worth it definitely, this show is one of the weirdest (in the good way) shows I have ever watched. It was like watching the muppets but much more dark and scary. It's so hard to describe why it's such a perfect show, it's more of a "watch and you will see" type good. I hope this show goes on as long as it needs too cause I could watch a 3 hour movie with just these 3 puppets and not be bored the whole time. If you like horror but not too much and the muppets. You will love this show to death. A must watch, and in my opinion a masterpiece. Very short review cause I just wanted to say how good the show is while also supporting it the most I can.
Good, but not as good as the web series.
Full disclaimer: I love DHMIS, and I love everything about the web series. I also like this. So with that out of the way, let's get into my nitpicks
1. Length - I feel as though it was drawn out compared to say the original where the longest episode was 10 minutes and was entertaining throughout.
2. Comprehension - While, yes, the original one wasn't that comprehensible either, but was still easy to follow along with, which is where this suffers. Especially toward the end.
3. Lore - Theories were a big part of the original DHMIS, and the lore was packed throughout. The story moved forward, while every episode in this starts as a clean slate. Plus, it's hard to see where this would fit into the timeline. Especially with the brilliant end to the first one. This is June 20th, but still feels like we're stuck on the 19th. Plus Roy was very underused in this, and a lot of the lore seems to contradict nearly every theory people came up with for the first one.
And that's all I have to say. Just a few nitpicks I have with the new show. Once again I did thoroughly enjoy this series, especially the last two episodes, but this just isn't as good as the web series.

It's still amazing but remember that it's made for tv
The YouTube series of dhmis was amazing and the tv show gave over two hours more of the amazing series. The original YouTube series was just that, a YouTube series. There were no worries about the amount of gore that was in an episode. The new series was put on tv which meant there were rules on how far they would be allowed to go.
There's still random body parts and blood that spews out but not to the degree that you can't sleep because you think a can will murder you. All the songs are catchy and all the characters grow with their emotions which is something the YouTube series slightly lacked.
It's an amazing series and it's so worth it. I would recommend watching the show and its past YouTube series, that way everyone can love yellow guy, red guy, and duck as much as I do.

Creative, funny, refreshing and smart, and brilliant!
As somebody who is a fan of the original series, in my mind the new series definitely had some big boots to fill and it turns out it's WAY better than I thought it was going to be and I had high expectations. It has the same character and charm to it the original series has while being new and refreshing! Its got a great dry/dumb sense of humor and it leaves you with more questions than answers- in the best way possible! It is a brilliant watch for people new to the series and a great watch for old fans returning to the series. Whether you've watched the original series or not, I'd recommend to definitely watch this on All 4 if you have any free time! 9/10 love it 😊
Not as good as the youtube series
There is something missing. The youtube series was a captivating experience with the short episodes taking you on a magical ride, building up tension slowly with scary moments inbetween, that give you a feeling of unease. In the end there is the big payoff where the magic turns into horror and delivers the harsh reality.
This series does not captivate like that, it does include the scary parts and is even funnier than the youtube series, but the rest is missing. It feels like the the message is no longer clear or important, as the series is now more focused on horror, absurdity and hilarity..

Disturbing but in a good way
This is for sure a very unique and original series that can't really be compared to anything else, which is very rare these days. It is very creepy and extremely weird, yet still likeable.
Art wise it's really just beautiful and I can't help but appreciate what the artists did there, you can tell how much work was put into every single prop, big or small.
As for the differences between the web series and the TV one - I think I'll be in the minority by saying that I actually liked it better than the original web version. While the web series had better songs in my opinion and was still overall good, the stories in the TV episodes felt way more collected together, while the web series often felt completely random and unclear and sometimes got a little lost in its own randomness (even though it was likely made that way on purpose). I personally think the TV one has a better balance of some randomness but still not so much that you don't even understand what happens. The stories in each TV episode also manage to get more deep thanks to them being longer. It is a matter of personal preferences though, as the web version did leave more things to your own interpretation which some people might prefer, while the TV one doesn't require you to stop and ask yourself what have you just watched, or at least not to the same level as the web one, so it is slightly less mysterious in a way. But nonetheless, the TV one is still very weird like the original so they are not totally different outside of the point I mentioned.
The only downside I would say is I think it would have been nicer if the stories developed more from one episode to another, like some main deeper storylines that will make you look forward to see what will happen in the next episode. So far (first season) it didn't really happen, except for just a tiny bit in the last episode. If there will be a second season, hopefully it would happen there.

My kids love it!
I was first introduced to this by my 14 year old son! Too young, maybe, but they seem to watch all sorts these days and he'd seen the Youtube episodes before anyone realised.
That said, I don't think there is anything unsuitable for a 14 year old in the show. It's just surreal and a bit dark. Some sensitive children may have nightmares though, as it's mostly psychological rather than graphic. Anytime anything is graphic, it's done in a cartoon/muppet type way.
For adults, it's a terrific program. Very dark and surreal, but also very funny at the same time. I think it's excellent, and I've watched the 'Family episode at least 5 or 6 times as I love the blend of humour and horror.
The best part is, my son thinks that my impression of Duck is almost identical to the real duck! So that's got to be a good thing, right?

One of the funniest, scariest, and most underrated shows in a while.
This show is great. First off the production value here is great and rivals most blockbuster movies recently. The way it is naturally able to switch styles so fluently is fantastic. The voice performances are amazing and give way to so many memorable moments. The songs are also great with my personal favorite being the job song, big day, and the theme song. This show is also one of the most well written and funniest shows out there. The characters are also so fun and entertaining. My personal favorites being duck and Warren the worm. Also this is quite possibly one of the scariest pieces of horror media in recent memory. The way the show goes from making you laugh to unnerving you is hilarious.
Overall great and deserves more mainstream attention.

Great but falls short in little aspects.
Loved the original Web Series with the concept of an innocent kids show slowly becoming uncanny and dark. Came into this expecting relatively the same but more of a plot with it being a full episode for TV. It accomplished most of what the Web Series did with the uncanny feeling later through and general kid-friendly themes of episodes with dark turns, with some humor in-between.
It however really falls off with the 20 Minute run time. Some spots feel like filler with little to nothing brought to the viewer, not even trying to make the viewer feel uncomfortable, laugh, or confused, just frankly bored. Also the time it takes the story to slowly go from kid friendly to uncanny happens more spotty and quickly than overtime with the web-series, wether that be with light swears or blood almost from the beginning in the TV series which I find disappointing with the 20 minute run-time. It definitely isn't a let down story wise or production wise, just the length and the show trying its hardest to meet the 20 Minute length. Worth a watch from anyone but does get a bit boring in some cases.

Absolutely amazing
This show was one of the funniest things I have seen in a while. I have loved the original series since I was pretty young, probably too young, and watched it over and over with my sister, memorising every word to every song. But honestly, I prefer this! They have definitely Amped up the comedy aspect but slightly lowered the horror element. I felt like I was laughing every five seconds and when I wasn't laughing my arse off I was shaking in fear or bopping along to the music. My personal favourite episodes were episode two death and episode six electricity. Everything was executed amazingly and the songs were just great! Also the twist at the end was excellent. Overall they did an absolutely amazing job and I can't wait to see where the series goes from here!

Had high hopes for this
When I found out that they were doing a DHMIS show, I was excited and curious, but also a bit skeptical and concerned it wouldn't hold up as well as the web series did or it would become a shell of the web series where you knew what was going to happen but you wanted to see the how and what new topic it was on.
The charm of the "innocent kids show slowly turns dark/gory" is still there but outside of that it kind of falls flat. Maybe it's because I went into it with higher expectations and maybe it's because I was still thinking of an old trailer that I think was deleted or may have been for something else (pertaining to Duck being Mayor?), but the show just was kinda eh for me. 1-4 are strong episodes and feel like extended versions of the YouTube series, which is what I somewhat expected, and then 5-6 seem to have some form of a connected story that just leaves far too many questions. Maybe it's to set up for season 2, but I'm not sure. The last two episodes lack the charm of the web series and the four episodes before it.
If you like the series, you'll enjoy it. But it might not be as highly received as you hope it will be in your opinion.

I don't get it at all
Had high expectations for this as it was described as a puppet horror parody of kids TV and the reviews from others were high but I'm 12 minutes in and it feels like I'm watching a pre school kids show with the occasional odd scene. I e. Not good. There's a duck puppet who sounds like someone doing a bad David Mitchell impression, a red guy that's a bloke with a mop for a face and another character thats so forgettable I can't remember what it is. Unless the 2nd half is going to turn into horrifying comedy genius I wil not be watching any more of these. It just feels like another dumb TV show that reflects the world descending into an idiocracy. It's not even amusing for a kids show.
Edit : skipped ahead to the end and some stuff happened to consider it horror but the 20 mins of preamble was so boring .this should be 8 mins long. Absolute bobbins.
