Chennai, April 22: Tamil debutant director Subu, who has roped in theatre actors as protagonists in his upcoming comedy-thriller "Sutta Kadhai", finds them more confident compared to others. He says working with them minimises the effort of a director.
"Sutta Kadhai" features Lakshmi Priyaa and Venkatesh Harinathan from Chennai-based theatre groups Evam and Stray Factory, respectively, in the lead roles.
"You don't have to teach how to act to someone with years of theatre background. It comes to them naturally and they do it with so much of confidence that working with them is always a delight," Subu told Ians.

Hyderabad, Sep 14: All the telegu films of Nagarjuna do have raunchy foot-tapping dance numbers in them. And generally we get to see Charmi in all the item numbers present in Nagarjuna's films, she mesmerizes the male populace with her special charm. But this time, its being heard that Lakshmi Rai has been chosen to do the item number in the forthcoming Telegu film which has Nagarjuna in the male lead role. But Nagarjuna does not want any new introductions, and wants to continue with his tradition.
Therefore he grumbled at the decision of the film makers and have told them to reject Lakshmi and choose Charmi only for the item number. Charmi has become a popular Telegu actress these days, and her ability to learn Telegu within a brief.

India is currently witnessing a very small but powerful indie movement with many new films making it big at international film festivals. One film to join this bandwagon is Kshay, an intense psychological study of a woman’s obsession with an unfinished statue of the Goddess Lakshmi. The film just won the ‘Grand Jury Prize for Best Narrative Feature’ at the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles (Iffla). Shot in stark black-and-white, starring theatre actors Alekh Sangal and Rasika Dugal, the film has travelled to 4 international film festivals already with many more in the offing.
Says Shaan Vyas, producer of Kshay “Kshay has taken us 4 years to complete and was made with a two-man crew at most times – the director Karan Gour and Dop Abhinay Khoparzi. When I say a two-man crew, nobody can even come close to knowing how difficult that can be. It’s a film about obsession made by an obsessive person.

The remake ‘Rajahs’ are back in action with the 5th consecutive remake. Just as it happened before in all their 4 films, they have blatantly reproduced the same stuffs from ‘Kick’. The original version directed by Surendar Reddy featured Ravi Teja and Ileana in lead roles. Now, with ‘Thillalangadi’ nothing seems to be changed as even the costumes have been replicated over and again in every frame.
Set in backdrops of Malaysia, the film opens with parents of Nisha (Thamannah) fixing marriage with Krishna Kumar (Shaam), who has traveled all the way to foreign country for a mission of catching a thief.

July 9, 2010: On the eve of the release of her latest film Red Alert, Sameera Reddy tells Jyothi Venkatesh that it was director Buddhdeb Dasgupta who had taught her that as an actress can move out of the typical stereo-typed Bollywood film, which does not offer much scope to actresses most of the time.
When I met her for this interview at The Raheja Classic Club where she had come in her glamorous avatar dressed in a skin hugging black pant and a sexy T shirt, indeed a far cry from the character of the deglamorized Lakshmi that she plays in the film Red Alert starring her in a pivotal role along with stalwarts like Naseeruddin Shah,.
