Originally from Belgium, Pieter Luypaert studied at the Royal Institute for Theatre, Cinema and Sound in Brussels.
He has a strong theatre background as a stage director and playwright. His theatre work was characterized by mixing digital technology with traditional storytelling, and it was his keen interest in the relationship between technology and creativity that sparked his move to VFX.
In collaboration with various Belgian directors and screenwriters, Pieter has written, directed and performed in several short films.
Working in VFX since 2015, his experience spans a multitude of projects and genres, including 3D animation, cinematics for video games, and VFX for both feature films and episodic television.
A career highlight was working on ZAFARI, the first broadcast animated children's TV show to be completely rendered in real-time using Epic Games' Unreal Engine. Epic was awarded the first Technology and Engineering Emmy in 2018, partly due to the success of ZAFARI.
As a Producer, Pieter has collaborated with a variety of partners such as Netflix, Amazon, Disney+, Apple TV+, 20th Century Studios, Legendary and Paramount Pictures.
