The world has once again been taken over by the wackiness of Betelgeuse. The larger-than-life bio-exorcist made his return to theaters last month for a sequel nearly four decades in the making, and it certainly exceeded expectations.
Michael Keaton was as delightful as ever as the undead demon, turning the world of the Deetz family upside down once more in another gothic adventure that only he could create. And audiences loved it, as the Tim Burton sequel grossed over $430 million at the box office, quadrupling the takings of the original 1988 movie. Don't you just love it when a cult classic becomes a global phenomenon?
Beetlejuice Beetlejuice was a moment in time, and one that was worth waiting for. But while it reunited Keaton and Burton, along with Winona Ryder and Catherine O'Hara, not all of the original movie's stars returned. That didn't, however, stop two of them from crossing paths on TV screens this month.

Saturday Night Live season 50 is the most anticipated year of SNL in recent memory. The milestone season combined with an election year created a perfect storm of comedy, and one that should attract entertainment's biggest stars.
With an anniversary special set for February, Saturday Night Live will be looking back as it celebrates half a century on the air. Even before the season began, speculation ran wild that there would be a constant flow of former cast members and SNL friends coming through Studio 8H.
And while some cameos got shut down before things even started, others like Maya Rudolph were announced early to help build hype. Last Night On's episode-by-episode guide will track every Saturday Night Live season 50 cameo
Episode 1: Jean Smart/Jelly Roll
The season 50 premiere wasted no time when it came to cameos. The cold open established who else would be on Team Harris alongside Maya Rudolph's Kamala Harris.

The 49-year-old Oscar-winning actress posed for photos at the gala screening of Lee on Sunday (October 20) held at Ritz Cinemas in Sydney, Australia.
For the event, Kate sported a white blazer and black pants paired with black heels.
In the movie, Kate plays famed photographer Lee Miller. The story “portrays a pivotal decade in the life of American war correspondent and photographer, Lee Miller. Miller’s singular talent and unbridled tenacity resulted in some of the 20th century’s most indelible images of war, including an iconic photo of Miller herself, posing defiantly in Hitler’s private bathtub. Michael Keaton recently appeared on Saturday Night Live, taking on hosting duties for the fourth time. The actor’s opening monologue was crashed by a few familiar faces. In fact, while sharing the stage, they also had a special request for Keaton.
Keaton Suspected A Certain Ghost Would Be Popular This Halloween
As an actor, Michael Keaton is known for a variety of roles. These include playing the famous “ghost with the most” Beetlejuice and the eponymous superhero in 1989’s Batman and Batman Returns.
In fact, Keaton recently reprised the Beetlejuice character for the 2024 sequel, Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. Notably, this was 36 years after the original film came out.

Michael Keaton is having a big year, thanks to the success of the long-awaited sequel "Beetlejuice Beetlejuice." The film reunited director Tim Burton with the man who created a truly iconic performance out of thin air, and the movie is still making decent money at the box office several weeks after its release. Last weekend, "Beetlejuice 2" managed to sit higher on the box office charts in its sixth week in theaters than the massively panned "Joker: Folie à Deux," which was only in its second weekend. That's some impressive staying power, and it's especially surprising as a follow-up to a beloved 1988 horror comedy that has endured in popularity for decades. It only makes sense that "Beetlejuice" made an appearance in Michael Keaton's season 50 episode of "Saturday Night Live" -- but it wasn't Keaton who suited up in the black and white stripes this time.

We should have expected a nostalgia-heavy season in honor of Saturday Night Live’s 50th anniversary. But nostalgia comes in many packages. Sometimes it’s a sweet remembrance of the good times we’ve shared. Sometimes it’s revisiting the past in desperate attempts to recreate old glories. Last night, SNL served up its own version of Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, inviting poor Michael Keaton to once again repeat earlier successes with diminishing results.
The ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’ of Monologues
Keaton kicked off his fourth hosting appearance by promoting his not-nearly-as-good-as-the-original Beetlejuice Beetlejuice. He says his movie is “coming out now” even though it’s been in theaters since Labor Day. It’s all an excuse for Mikey Day and Andy Samberg (he got written out of the political cold open) to dress up like Beetlejuice and persuade Keaton to do their favorite character.

Alec Baldwin, who has hosted Saturday Night Live more times than any other person, returned to Studio 8H last night, Saturday, October 19, for his first big SNL role since 2020. This time, though, Baldwin wasn’t playing Donald Trump, as he has on the NBC sketch show many times before. Instead, he portrayed Fox News host Bret Baier, who “looks like someone made a businessman in Minecraft,” as Baldwin said. In host Michael Keaton‘s opening monologue, he was joined by Mikey Day and Andy Samberg dressed as his iconic character, Beetlejuice. Here are more highlights from last night’s episode. Michael Keaton brought nostalgia and laughs to “Saturday Night Live” during his most recent hosting appearance celebrating the show’s 50th season. In his opening monologue, Keaton looked back on his long history with SNL dating back to his debut in 1982. He shared a funny anecdote about working as a production assistant on “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood” in the 1970s.
The monologue took an unexpected turn as Keaton started talking about the newly released “Beetlejuice” sequel film. As he joked about fans still recognizing him as his iconic character from the 1988 movie, two surprise guests joined him on stage dressed as Beetlejuice. Former SNL cast member Andy Samberg and current cast member Mikey Day both wore Beetlejuice’s signature striped suit.
Samberg used Beetlejuice’s growling voice to reminisce about attempting but failing many times to bring the character to SNL. This led Keaton to remind everyone to just call him “Beetlejuice” instead of other nicknames.

With 16 days left until the 2024 Presidential election, tonight’s Saturday Night Live host Michael Keaton and musical guest Billie Eilish used their appearances on the NBC sketch show to get out the vote.
First, Keaton donned a TV-shirt emblazoned with the word Vote while introducing Eilish’s first musical performance of the flagship song, Birds of a Feather, from her latest album, Hit Me Hard and Soft.
He put the shirt back on for the curtain call at the end of the episode, with Eilish wearing an identical tee. “Thank you and don’t forget to…,” he said as both he and Elish showed off the message on their clothing.
Keaton, as well as Eilish and her brother Finneas, have endorsed Kamala Harris for President, with Keaton recently seen campaigning for her in his native Pittsburgh wearing the same T-Shirt.
In both of her music performances, Eilish was joined by Finneas on acoustic guitar.

Michael Keaton returned to “Saturday Night Live” this week, marking his fourth time hosting at Studio 8H after first appearing on the show in 1982. “Man, I am excited to be back here hosting ‘Saturday Night Live’s’ 50th season,” he said before reminiscing on where his career stood when the show first premiered.
“I was a Pa on ‘Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood,’ he said. “And in the ’70s, you know, ‘SNL’ and ‘Mister Rogers’ have a lot more similarities than you would think. Lots of puppets. Tons of cocaine” — though Keaton then praised Fred Rogers as “everything you’d think he was.”
Keaton then touched on “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice,” the recently released film that saw him reprise his role from 1988’s “Beetlejuice.”

In his fourth time hosting Saturday Night Live, Michael Keaton is egged on toward memory lane.
During his opening monologue for SNL 50, the Beetlejuice actor is forced to share the stage with Mikey Day and Andy Samberg, both of whom crash the stage in full Betelgeuse attire: untamed green hair, pinstripe suit and ghastly makeup to boot.

His joke prompted Day’s entrance, who immediately started ululating and donning the demon’s signature raspy voice. As he urged Keaton to “do the voice” and say his catchphrase, “It’s showtime,...

Alec Baldwin returned to Saturday Night Live as Fox News anchor Bret Baier during the show’s cold open, which spoofed the testy interview with Kamala Harris (Maya Rudolph).
“When I interviewed President Trump, my first question was, what do you think is the most important issue facing our nation? So my first question for you is, give me the exact number of murderers you let loose in this country?” Baier asks the vice president.
However, as Harris attempts to answer, the Special Report with Bret Baier host continues to interrupt her, similar to his real interview with the vice president earlier this week. He then proceeds to ask Harris if she was “here to answer questions or just looking for a viral moment?”

Michael Keaton got some help from two famous Beetlejuice impersonators while delivering the opening monologue on the October 19 episode of Saturday Night Live!
The 73-year-old Beetlejuice Beetlejuice actor is taking over the popular late-night show for its latest episode.
When he took the stage for his monologue, he noted that he was looking forward to seeing kids dress up as his iconic character for Halloween in a few weeks.
While the kid costumes are “adorable,” he joked that he was less enthused by the idea of adults wearing the look. Clearly Mikey Day and Andy Samberg didn’t get the memo.

With “Palm Springs,” first-time director Max Barbakow achieved the kind of whirlwind debut most filmmakers only dream of.
The time-loop rom-com, which starred Andy Samberg and Cristin Milioti as wedding guests forced to relive the same day over and over again, was the hit of the 2020 Sundance Film Festival. Neon and Hulu acquired it in a record-breaking sale. The looming pandemic was serendipitous timing for a streaming debut, and “Palm Springs” ended up setting Hulu records when it came out that summer. Barbakow had a bona fide cultural phenomenon on his hands and seemingly became an established Hollywood director overnight.

Per NBC, Grande’s episode drew a “record-breaking” 516 million views across “SNL’s” social channels, with 415 million of those views attributed to in-show sketch and musical performance content. (“SNL” also uploads sketches online that were cut from the broadcast for time.)

Thanks to Andy Samberg’s election season gig (playing Kamala Harris’ husband Doug Emhoff), Saturday Night Live recently aired its first “SNL Digital Short” in six years. The Lonely Island reunion (minus Jorma Taccone) found Samberg and Akiva Schaffer as chain-smoking ‘80s businessmen pitching a “Sushi Glory Hole” to a panel of confused/disgusted executives.
Where did the idea of using a public restroom’s anonymous sex cavity to deliver upscale Japanese seafood come from? On the most recent episode of The Lonely Island and Seth Meyers Podcast, Samberg and Schaffer took a break from delving into their back catalog of sketches in order to unpack the recent music video.
According to Samberg, Schaffer randomly said “Sushi Glory Hole” one day, and then just “kept saying it.” So they tried recording a version of the song with a different beat, but it didn’t end up working. Since they liked some of the lines,...

Before Gotham’s gritty underworld became her stomping ground in The Penguin, Cristin Milioti had a run-in with a Batman movie that left her absolutely terrified. And no, it wasn’t the moody, Snyder-style epic fans are used to. This was a different kind of Dark Knight moment, long before the Dceu took over.

It’s wild to think the actress who’s been nailing crime-riddled roles was once rattled by the caped crusader himself! As she gets comfy in Gotham, fans are itching to know which Batman project spooked her—and why.

Ariana Grande was absolutely hilarious as the guest host on Saturday Night Live and her boyfriend Ethan Slater is reacting to one of her funniest sketches.
The “Castrati” sketch featured Ariana as a boy who was castrated to keep his voice high so he can impress the prince with his vocal talents. Maya Rudolph and Andy Samberg made a special appearance as the parents.
Ari‘s best friend Elizabeth Gillies was backstage during the show and shared behind-the-scenes photos and videos from the night, including a clip of Antonio.
“Congratulations on another incredible SNL, my Dingus. And Little Antonio- I have no words,” Elizabeth said.
Ethan commented on the post with a reaction to the sketch.

Doug Emhoff weighed in on his various Saturday Night Live impersonators this week, answering the ultimate question: Martin Short or Andy Samberg?
“Martin Short is way older and shorter, but he actually got me,” Emhoff told Gavin Newsom, Marshawn Lynch and Doug Hendrickson on the Politickin’ podcast. “Samberg — it’s good, it’s funny. It’s not quite me, but some of the lines are pretty good.”
Short played the Second Gentlemen for several sketches when Emhoff and his wife, Kamala Harris, entered the national conversation during the last presidential election in 2020. Samberg took on the role when SNL returned ahead of the November election this fall. In the interview this week, Emhoff added that Samberg “has the hair down,” and said the viral “Dougy” dance is funny, but perhaps not entirely accurate.
Emhoff went on to speak about his experience seeing himself depicted on the show, after growing up watching the sketches.

With everything that's going on in Ariana Grande's career, from her chart-topping singing career to starring in the massive movie musical "Wicked," it can be easy to forget that she got her start as an adorkable theater kid who found success on Nickelodeon. But having Grande host "Saturday Night Live" for a second time, after her debut pulling double duty as host and musical guest back in 2016, was the perfect reminder that she's a versatile performer who not only has unbelievable singing pipes, but she also has quite an impressive array of impressions -- including some that don't require her to sing at all.
While Ariana Grande's second time hosting "SNL" wasn't quite as good as Nate Bargatze's second time hosting last weekend, this was still an extremely solid episode that featured even more musical sketches than her first stint on the show. Plus, while the musical sketches...

Season 50 of “Saturday Night Live” started strong with an exciting unveiling of new political impersonations from Andy Samberg, Jim Gaffigan, Dana Carvey, Bowen Yang, and others. An episode hosted by Nate Bargatze that proved the show is at its best when working off talent with a comedic background, but this week’s episode, hosted by Ariana Grande, proved that maintaining a hot streak after 50 seasons isn’t always possible. The episode started with a traditional political cold open that saw Vice President Kamala Harris (Maya Rudolph) and former President Donald Trump (James Austin Johnson) face off in a game of Family Feud rather than a regular debate. Hosted by Steve Harvey (Kenan Thompson), Harris was joined by her husband, Doug Emhoff (Samberg), her VP pick Tim Walz (Gaffigan), and President Joe Biden (Carvey), while Trump reluctantly brought along his son, Donald Jr. (Mikey Day), and his running mate, Jd Vance...

Donald Trump may have refused to do a second debate with Kamala Harris, but Saturday Night Live had another idea for them to face off one more time before the election.
Maya Rudolph’s Harris and James Austin Johnson’s Trump met once again on NBC’s sketch comedy show, only this time it was on the Family Feud stage with Kenan Thompson’s Steve Harvey.
“I am Steve Harvey and I have spent the past 20 years hosting every show on TV as my alibi for them Diddy parties,” Harvey says. “Now tonight, we got two political rivals.”
He then proceeded to introduce the Democrats’ side, which included Harris (Rudolph), Tim Walz (Jim Gaffigan), Joe Biden (Dana Carvey) and Douglas Emhoff (Andy Samberg). On the Republicans’ side, it was Trump (Johnson), J.D. Vance (Bowen Yang), Donald Trump Jr. (Mikey Day) and a missing Melania Trump.

“Saturday Night Live” brought the Democrats and Republicans into a hilarious game of “Family Feud,” hosted by Kenan Thompson’s Steve Harvey.
Maya Rudolph’s Kamala Harris, Jim Gaffigan’s Tim Walz, Andy Samberg’s Doug Emhoff and Dana Carvey’s Joe Biden went up against James Austin Johnson’s Donald Trump, Mikey Day’s Donald Trump Jr. and Bowen Yang’s J.D. Vance in the cold open.
Thompson asked for the contestants to name something they keep in their glove compartment, to which Rudolph answered with “a Glock” — making fun of Harris’ recent viral interview moment.
“Steve, look, I was raised in a middle-class family. My mother raised my sister and me. She worked hard and saved up, and we had a second mother, too. A small business owner named Ms. Shelton,” Rudolph’s Harris said. When prompted again for an answer, she quipped, “Oh, a Glock, Steve. A big ol’ Glock.

“Saturday Night Live” packed in every political face it could on Saturday’s show as the cold open featured a game of “Family Feud” with Team Harris vs. Team Trump.

While playing presidents and high-profile candidates on Saturday Night Live was once exclusively the domain of SNL cast members, in recent years, zeitgeist-y political roles have tended to go to a revolving door of A-list celebrities, including Alec Baldwin, Jim Carrey and Robert De Niro. This trend has gone on for so long that it’s become the expected norm that newsworthy politicians will be played by celebrity ringers, as opposed to in-house talent.
But Lorne Michaels’ strategy has led to some hurt feelings. Darrell Hammond technically wasn’t a part of the cast when Donald Trump entered the political arena, but he was still kicking around Studio 8H in his capacity as announcer, and was tapped to reprise the role of Trump, who he’d already impersonated in previous seasons.

At Skankfest, a comedy festival in Las Vegas, it emerged that Gillis, who did spoof Trump when he hosted SNL last season, was asked by Lorne Michaels to do it again.
“Nobody thought [Gillis] was coming to this festival this year,” podcaster Luis J. Gomez said.
“Explain why,” Gillis replied. “Because he was offered to play Trump on the entire season of SNL and he turned it down to f*cking be here, folks,” Gomez added. Gillis said, “They said, ‘Are you serious? You’re going to say no?’ I said, ‘Lorne, I’ve got to go to Coke Magic.’”

Dana Carvey is one of the revered cast members in Saturday Night Live history. He's considered to be the show's best impressionist, so it makes sense that boss Lorne Michaels would bring him back to play President Joe Biden in season 50.
Carvey was hilarious during the cold open for the season 50 premiere, and will return to play Biden for the rest of the season. The comedian confirmed as much during an episode of his podcast Fly on the Wall. He also told co-host and fellow SNL David Spade about the changes made to the Donald Trump impression.
James Austen Johnson now wears a fat suit to play Trump
Trump is still being played by current SNL cast member James Austin Johnson. The comedian has really nailed down the former President's voice and mannerisms, so bringing him back seemed like a no-brainer.

Kamala Harris’ vice presidential nominee will be virtually sitting down with the SmartLess podcast Monday, we hear.

This comes on the heels of Walz’s less-than-stellar debate performance against GOP VP pick Senator Jd Vance [R-Oh] on Oct. 1. The two-term governor received criticism for being too congenial with his Republican rival and seemingly befuddled in the national spotlight for most of the 90-minute debate.

The Lonely Island is back and boy do they have a pitch; just hear them out! It has been more than six years since the comedy group last released one of their famed SNL Digital Shorts, but the boys returned during this week’s episode of Saturday Night Live to drop a new banger…so to speak.
“Sushi Glory Hole” finds Andy Samberg and Akiva Schaffer entering a meeting with top execs played by Bowen Yang, Maya Rudolph and Kenan Thompson. Their idea? Well, let’s see if these ill rhymes do the trick: You forgot to eat, now you’re out and about but you wanna be discreet / Can’t be eatin’ omakase in the middle of the street / Then you open the app: Sgh is all over the map / So you head to a club, hit the bathroom stall / Find the sushi-size hole in the bathroom wall / Then make a wish,...
