Jesús Escudero, Spain, is ICIJ’s data reporter and researcher.
He started working with ICIJ as a partner on the Pulitzer-winning Panama Papers investigation in 2016. At that time, he worked in the first data unit ever created in a Spanish media organization, at El Confidencial. Escudero joined ICIJ as a full-time data journalist in 2023.
ICIJ member since 2017, he participated on several cross-border investigations lead by ICIJ including Caspian Cabals, Cyprus Confidential, Pandora Papers, FinCEN Files, Luanda Leaks, Implant Files and Paradise Papers.
Escudero has contributed to projects that won the Online Journalism Award for Excellence in Collaboration and Partnerships, the TRACE Price for Investigative Reporting, the Investigative Reporting and Editors (IRE) Gannett Award for Innovation, the George Polk Award and the Best Journalist Award in Spain.
