It asks that the relation between poverty and

More than 110 countries including Pakistan and two-third of agricultural land of the world are being faced with the challenge of
desertification, land degradation and drought (DLDD).

The Federal Ministry of Environment says 35 percent of Nigeria's landmass has been eroded by
desertification with more areas still threatened.
Accordingly, out of 79.9 million hectares of Pakistan's total land, 62 million hectares are vulnerable to
desertification.
Desertification is defined as the process of fertile land transforming into desert typically as a result of deforestation, drought and inappropriate agriculture.
