INTRODUCTION

The subject of the supernatural has been the most misconceived and misrepresented concept in religion. The Christian world being the sole beneficiary are the worst culprits, there is some high degree of ignorance, concerning the subject, which is the very life of the triune God, of the man created in His image and likeness. The state of mankind, global society and the entire universe clearly reveals a lack of a spice, which has rendered the world tasteless. The misconception stems from the ignorance of the source and origin, the awareness, contents, and the impartation and utilization of the supernatural. When this blockade is broken and cleared, there would be a guarantee of an understanding and comprehensive benefits which will usher in a paradise-like existence on the planet. Scripture declared, "For I am the Lord, I change not", and since God does not, and cannot change His nature, it is consistent and logical to believe that He would continue to manifest His supernatural power of miracles among His people from time to time, and to demonstrate His continued divine nature and mercy to mankind; noble men in all generations throughout history became aware, witnessed and embraced the outworking of this essential divine virtue, to their earthly benefit. The contemporary generation is greatly privileged to experience the extraordinary supernatural displays of God’s providence, including greater miracles, and remarkable signs and wonders. Millions have wondered the mystery concerning the unusually prolonged day account in the book of Joshua, both conservative Christians and astronomers have battled to comprehend the phenomenon, and even the overwhelming supernatural operations witnessed by the Welsh Revival during the last few centuries. Men should know that, God, the sovereign owner and creator of the entire universe designed it with utmost natural powers, such as which manifest in tornadoes, earthquakes, tsunamis, storms, hurricane, landslides, not mentioning cosmic formations and threats, and the propelling inner human force, these have the potential to intimidate, overwhelm, and annihilate natural man, in his current state of descent, a state which has resulted in disease, decay and death. Men in desperation have been crying for peace throughout the centuries, and clamored for the formation of numerous peace movements and brotherhood, and global leaders with their political and ideological skills have tried strategies, through conferences, peace accords, sports, suppression and many other systems to stabilize the world in peace, but it seems these have not worked and peace is virtually non-existent in the current global setting; the question being asked is, what is happening to this planet, and what is the solution to the crisis on the planet earth ? The submission of this timely volume is, the need to seek for the re-infusion and embracing of the supernatural; the only intended divine key for mastering the rest of creation and its natural powers and the final elevator to the eternal kingdom of heaven-a place of splendor and bliss.

WHAT IS THE SUPERNATURAL?

The subject of the supernatural sends chills down spines, sparks controversial debates and engineers the fear of the unknown around fire places, coffee tables, terminals, malls, religious circles, and almost wherever there are human activities. The debates and discussions revolve around familiar territories and knowledge; the treatment of the subject, supernatural, is done mainly according to cultural, traditional and to some extent historical background; even peculiar geographical setting. But such a narrow dissection, limit the comprehensiveness and depth of this all important eternal substance, Christians believe that the past, present, and future complexities and mysteries of the universe cannot be explained solely by naturalistic means and argue that it is reasonable to assume that a non-natural entity or entities resolve the unexplained. The term supernatural is often used interchangeably with paranormal or preternatural, the latter typically limited to an adjective for describing abilities which appear to exceed the bounds of possibility. The conditions in which the supernatural manifest will not be reproducible for scientific examination, and the energies subjected to any scientific instrument, it will only be possible when divine grace or providence grants man to carry on any assessment of this kind. The most sophisticated scientific instruments invented so far can still not assess any supernatural phenomenon. The supernatural is the very essence of deity and the Trinitarian-code (what makes God, God), God is infallible, immortal, divine and immutable, He can do whatever He wants to do; His power is awesome and enormous, the ancient men of the bible days witness His mighty power in almost all their affairs and today He still sustains His faithful ones supernaturally. Men and women such as Abraham, Moses, David, Joshua, Joseph, Samuel (the prophet), Daniel, Sarah, Esther, Hannah, Mary (mother of Jesus), Martha, Elijah, Elisha, Isaiah, Jeremiah, John, Peter, and Paul were mortal witnesses to this power. This generation can also boast of men and women like Billy Graham TD Jakes, Kathryn Kuhlman, Mother Teresa, and Benny Hinn and many other servants.

The word Supernatural comes from two household words, "Super and Natural", but having a celestial meaning when combined.

Super:—having outstanding or excellent qualities, exceptionally large or powerful, greater than what is normal.

Natural:—relating to nature, in accordance with the usual course of nature, relating to the physical rather than the spiritual world.

DEFINITION

The Supernatural is a divine and celestial phenomenon which violates natural laws and there is no reason to suppose that such exist in the natural setting. The phenomenon follows well-defined laws designed and regulated by a divine Spirit from a plane far beyond the cosmic. The big bang, biogenesis, and evolution theories for the origin of the universe and the origin and development of life on earth does not embrace the supernatural. Science devoid of godly reasoning is incapable of examining or testing for the existence of things that have no physical effects, because its methods rely on the observation of physical effects. As believers in supernaturalism we say that our belief system is more flexible, and allows more diversity in terms of intuition and epistemology. Some critics argue that many supernatural claims involve physical phenomena that can be tested, but believe that scientific tests to date have failed to uphold the validity of those claims. A constant study is still being done on some global events occurring according to physical laws, and others according to a separate set of principles external to known physics. e.g., those who believe in Spirit, angels, demons and forces who generally think that they are naturally present in the cosmos, again some religious people also believe that all things that humans see as natural act in a systematic fashion only because it is God‘s divine orchestrations, and that natural laws are an extension of divine will.
