It’s been three months since the tragic death of iconic DJ and producer Avicii. The 28-year-old took his own life in late April, but not before giving so much of himself to the his fans through hit songs including “Levels,” “Wake Me Up,” “Hey Brother” and more. His life was an inspiration and a warning to so many in the dance music community, as well as the world of music at large.
The void of his presence will be felt for generations to come, and his memory was honored by more than a few DJs during performances at weekend one of Tomorrowland 2018.
Axwell & Ingrosso paused for an a capella moment with “Wake Me Up” before mashing it against the Swedish House Mafia hit “Don’t You Worry Child.” Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike celebrated similarly, mashing the lyrics against his breakout song “Seeking Bromance.” Don Diablo held a moment of pause, while Hardwell played one of his biggest tunes, and Nicky Romero‘s crowd unfurled a giant Avicii flag.
We still tear up watching these tributes. Watch the various clips from Tomorrowland 2018 weekend one below.
