Wycombe Wanderers 0-4 Accrington Stanley

  • Published

Already-promoted Accrington Stanley showed their class at Wycombe Wanderers, as Scott Brown's wonderful strike inspired them to an impressive 4-0 victory.

Four days after clinching promotion to League One for the first time in their history, Stanley had too much for the Chairboys, who just about cling on to an automatic promotion place despite a dispiriting defeat.

Accrington were handed the lead after 15 minutes when Wycombe goalkeeper Scott Brown was beaten to a long ball by Kayden Jackson, who walked the ball into the empty net.

There was nothing fortunate about the visitors' second, though, as Stanley's version of Scott Brown beat his namesake with a brilliant half-volley from just outside the box.

Accrington made the result safe in the second half when some good build-up play by Billy Kee and Jackson led to Sean McConville steering the ball into the bottom corner.

There was just enough time for Stanley to add a fourth in stoppage time thanks to Offrande Zanzala's penalty, after the substitute was hauled down in the box by Nathan McGinley.
