- Reviewed in the United States on April 30, 2019Lots of information and easily explained. I'll be purchasing the other books in this series based on this one

- Reviewed in the United States on July 5, 2014I really enjoy these books on history of uniforms.
- Reviewed in the United States on January 15, 2017This Osprey product has the usual, excellent black-and-white pictures, illustrations and color plates one can expect from an Osprey book. In this title, "The US Army of World War II (1) The Pacific", author Mark Henry focuses on the army soldier in the Pacific.
The author gives the reader an idea of what American soldiers wore, what they ate, how they carried their gear on their bodies and the weapons they used. I think there's a lot of useful information in this volume. The one-piece, "frogskin" camouflage uniforms came as a surprise to me. Basically a good primer on the US soldier in the Pacific - apart from the Marines who are not included.
Now, I would have liked more pictures of the individual uniform types - including the one-piece "frogskin" - and I would have liked color pictures of the rations (lots of people would like to see what was included in these meals), but, on the whole a good look at the basic personal equipment of the Army soldier.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 18, 2015thank you
- Reviewed in the United States on January 1, 2017Another excellent Osprey book. The color plates are great, and this book is very informative. My dad was a WW2 US Army Pacific vet. He passed away a few years ago. I wish he could have seen this book; he would have loved it.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 17, 2022Kindle version. The text provides a basic overview of the U.S. Army in the Pacific which is helpful but lacking in detail. There is not much about the U.S. Army's Pacific uniforms out there. Every uniform and equipment book I have covers Europe with little more than a nod to the Pacific...if at all. The downside to the Kindle version is that the color plates show in black-and-white which is not very helpful.
