Recently published 5th issue of the magazine 64 was last to be edited by Mark Glukhovsky. Glukhovsky has been appointed to the post of Chairmain of the Management Board of Russian Chess Federation, so now he handed over the reigns to Maxim Notkin who has been known as the editor of Chesspro.

Congratulations to Carlsen. He deserved... Today, not everyone knows who the second player of the world is but everyone knows who is the first!

In an interview given to Championat.com GM Alexey Dreev summarized his performance at the World Rapid and Blitz Chess Championships which took place in Astana: 

As we've already reported the world rapid and blitz championships will be held from June 15-21 in Dubai. Several leading GMs will participate. Among those is Magnus Carlsen.

This is the time of the year when chess journalists are invited by the 64 magazine to vote for the Chess Oscar by casting a list of the ten best players of the preceeding year. Before I tell and explain my choice, which I have been doing publicly since several years, please allow me a general observation: 2016 is promising to be a great year for chess. We are expecting a Candidates tournament, a Chess Olympiad and a World Championship match (that shall be less one-sided than the last two). Nothing of the sort in 2015.

The awarding ceremony of the winners of the Tal Memorial took place yesterday in the center of digital technology "Krasnij Oktyabr" in Moscow.

The tournament in memory of Mikhail Tal will nevertheless take place in Russia this year, and quite soon: it will be held in Sochi, in the same Media Center as the current Carlsen - Anand match. The only difference from the previously cancelled Tal Memorial is that now it's a blitz tournament. No information is currently available about whether it's a one-time event or the one to become traditional.
