THE FARM
La Ferme des Quatre-Temps is a small-scale, sustainable farm using a model of ecological, polyculture farming. Situated on a 167 acre property in Hemmingford, Quebec, the farm is designed to host a diversity of activities.
More specifically, four acres of mixed vegetable production, designed and operated under a bio-intensive market-garden model; sixty acres of intensive rotational livestock grazing; a ten acre orchard and an onsite food production facility for high quality food processing.
The underlying essence of our work is a reliance on appropriate technologies for small-scale, four-season farming in a northern climate characterized by seasonal extremes.
MISSION
Our mission is to demonstrate how diversified small-scale farms, using regenerative and economically efficient agricultural practices, can produce a higher nutritional quality of food and more profitable farms.
La Ferme des Quatre-Temps seeks to change our food systems and serve as a model for anyone seeking to make a living from small-scale sustainable farming.
We will develop and trial the best of today’s modern tools and technologies and combine them with traditional ecological practices, in order to demonstrate what the farms of the future could be like. We will work the land, train new farmers, promote regional food systems, and collaborate with existing institutions to realize our vision..
