Logo Wars

Last weekend some claims were made by a New Kids On The Block fan that she designed our iconic logo which was of course originally designed for us by the late great Barney Bubbles. This rather strange claim led to an online debate which is still going on now highlighting intellectual property rights on the internet.

Ian Dury - More Than Fair Art Exhibition

23 July - 1 September 2013: Paintings, drawings and artworks, 1961-1972
This summer the Royal College of Art will host an exhibition of the Pop Art of the late Ian Dury. Ian's daughter Jemima Dury, former confederate Kosmo Vinyl and one time Stiff Records art director, Jules Balme have joined together to present an exhibition of Ian's artwork from 1961 to 1972.
More than 30 pieces will be on display; most of it coming from the Dury family archive, with some loans from Ian's friends and collectors. Ian was also an RCA graduate and the College is honoured to present what will surely be one of the 'must see' shows in London this summer.
Open 11am - 6pm; Sundays: 12 - 5pm. Closed Mondays. Free Admission.

Famous for his funny, provocative, visceral lyrics, Ian Dury was a rock-and-roll poet and legendary force on the London music scene from 1970 onwards.
In the course of his unstoppably creative career, he studied art with Peter Blake, before turning his mind to music.
When he teamed up with a band called The Blockheads, a new era in New Wave music exploded into being, as they turned out hits like "Sex and Drugs and Rock and Roll", "Hit Me with Your Rhythm Stick" and "Reasons to Be Cheerful".

Greed - New Video exclusive

Here is the video for 'Greed' - a song that Derek 'The Draw' Hussey wrote (somewhat prophetically) two years ago with Chaz Jankel "Staring Down The Barrel".
The promo features cameos from actor and well-known music fan Martin Freeman (The Office, Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy, The Good Night); Toby Jones (Truman Capote in "Infamous", agent Irving 'Swifty' Lazar in"Frost/Nixon" and Karl Rove in OIiver Stone's "W"); and musician, comedian, actor and TV presenter Rowland Rivron.

Stuart Harris, who has worked as a cinematographer with directors as diverse as Ridley Scott, Julien Temple, Tim Pope and Storm Thorgerson, directed and photographed the video.

The Stiff years re-released!!

Surprisingly, for three such treasured albums, New Boots And Panties!! (1977); Do It Yourself (1979) and Laughter (1980) have never been given the full Deluxe 2 CD Edition re-issue treatment.

Demon Music Group has finally put this right at long last! With the full co-operation of both the Dury estate and The Blockheads, 2 CD sets include bonus discs with all the non-album singles sides, as well as previously unreleased demo versions, outtakes, and live versions, all retrieved from the untouched Dury tape archive.

The booklets feature full annotation, all the lyrics, and Dury ephemera. We would like to thank Val Jennings at Demon for putting together what we consider to be the ultimate versions of these albums.
