Employee spotlight
Find out why BEGOC (Baku European Games Operating Committee) is a great place to work from some of our current employees.
Raul Gulmammadov – Sport Visits Manager
1. What brought you to BEGOC?
Having worked in different sectors from civil society to environment, from development organisations to the business sector, I decided to be a part of the sport management industry, an inspiring and at the same time dynamic industry. As a result, I found myself at the Baku 2017 Islamic Solidarity Games Bid Committee for a while and shortly thereafter, at the Baku 2015 European Games Operation Committee.
2. Describe your typical day at BEGOC.
The client groups that we are dealing with are the National Olympic Committees (NOCs) of the 49 participating European countries, European sport federations, and medical and anti-doping institutions. Our team is responsible for planning, preparation and delivery of the athletes’ team managers seminar, all NOC visits under open day projects, and inspection visits of the European sport federations.
3. Describe a unique experience that could only happen while working for BEGOC.
Apart from demonstrating your skills and capabilities, at some point you might feel like you are attending an intensive course on project planning and event management while working at BEGOC. Besides the intensive learning process, here you are given a chance and a platform to apply newly gained knowledge.
4. What is the best thing about working on the Baku 2015 project?
You not only work with highly-qualified professionals with years of experience, here you also meet great people representing different cultures of the world. Baku 2015 is a platform where professionalism meets an outstanding multicultural environment which really makes your job pleasant and interesting.
Saadat Ismayilova – HR Administration Manager
1. How did you come to work at BEGOC?
I joined BEGOC in May 2013. I was offered a position in the HR team, working with national as well as international staff. The work scope promised to be challenging but interesting and exciting at the same time.
2. What do you like most about working for BEGOC?
I like the multicultural environment we have in BEGOC. I like to communicate with different people, and to assist them with their queries. Also I’m happy to be involved in new projects. I have had a chance to arrange a few corporate events, which certainly adds value to my experience.
3. What would you show a visitor to Azerbaijan?
Azerbaijan is a country with ancient history. There are lots of places to show visitors. I would start from the capital Baku and show them the Maiden Tower, which is the symbol of the old city. Azerbaijan is also a land of fire. It is famous for the fire temples spread all over the country.
4. What do you hope to learn from the experience of working on the Baku 2015 project?
I’m sure all people involved in Baku 2015 will learn something new from this project. Personally, I will learn how to manage diversity within the organisation and to meet deadlines. Baku 2015 is a great opportunity for all of us to measure our capability and potential.
