India star skipper Baichung Bhutia has decided to part ways with Mohun Bagan in retaliation to the club's decision to serve him a show cause letter.

Baichung Bhutia received the letter last week after missing numerous training sessions and skipping an exhibition match in Jalpaiguri on Tuesday without permission. The letter was send to Bhutia's home and he had been asked to explain his "erratic behaviour". The wording chosen by Mohun Bagan was surprisingly strong and they asked the Bhutia to explain his behaviour within the next 48 hours and for that time he had been advised not to attend team practice.

Bhutia said the show cause letter was a publicity gimmick: "I don't want to play for Mohun Bagan anymore! It was a publicity gimmick. It could have been handled better. Anjan Mitra just needed to call me up."

"It's good for both of us to part ways. They are telling me to rethink, but at the moment I have only one stand. I don't have any motivation left in me to play for Mohun Bagan," he added.
