The Indo-European telegraph from London to Calcutta is constructed by S&H (in operation until 1931).

SSW appoints Schröder, Smit & Co., Bremen and Calcutta, as its agent in India.
1907
SSW is represented in Calcutta by a branch office of Siemens Brothers Dynamo Works, London; sub-offices are established in Bombay and Madras.
1912
The Khopoli power plant is built (Peninsula India).
1921
Obering. E. Rziha, Calcutta becomes the agent for SSW in India.

The company opens its own branch under the name of Siemens India Ltd. with numerous offices (Calcutta, Bombay, Rangoon) and sub-offices (Karachi, Delhi, Madras, Colombo, Lahore).

A Siemens Department is set up at Protos Engineering Co. Ltd. Bombay.
1957
An Indian Siemens sales company is founded under the name of Siemens Engineering & Manufacturing Co. of India Private Ltd.
1960
The manufacture of switchgear is commenced.
1961
The company is renamed Siemens Engineering & Manufacturing Co. of India Ltd.
1966
A three-phase motor factory is opened in Kalwa.
1967
The company is renamed Siemens India Ltd.
1973
Siemens is one of the main suppliers of electrical equipment for the largest steelworks in northeast India.
1987
Siemens supplies electrical equipment for bucket-wheel excavators for Neyveli.
2003
Siemens completes India’s largest h.v.d.c. transmission project (East-South); it is the second longest h.v.d.c. transmission line in the world, covering a distance of 1,400 kilometers.
