Before arriving in Puerto Rico many people cannot imagine the immense diversity of culture that exists here. They assume the people who live here to be simple islanders with one distinct and somewhat undeveloped culture that does not begin to resemble what many would consider to be ‘typical’ aspects of western culture. However, nothing could be further from the truth. The Del Parque Theatre is one of the main theatres in San Juan, Puerto Rico. While it offers a variety of performances, it seldom features plays or activities in any languages other than Spanish. While some foreigners may find this somewhat disappointing, it should be understood that Spanish is the most widely understood language in this part of the Island and that it is the people of Puerto Rico who primarily attend the performances held at this theatre.
