AnnaSophia Robb has been cast in a lead role of the NBC drama pilot “Grosse Pointe Garden Society,” Variety has learned.

NBC ordered the pilot back in February. The logline states, “Four members of a suburban garden club, all from different walks of life, get caught up in murder and mischief as they struggle to make their conventional lives bloom.”

Robb will star as Alice, described as “your favorite high school English teacher, a dreamer whose best dreams are crashing down on her. She’s a longtime member of the Grosse Pointe Garden Society.”

Jenna Bans and Bill Krebs wrote the pilot and serve as executive producers. Bans will executive produce under her Minnesota Logging Company banner along with Casey Kyber. Universal Television, where both Bans and Krebs are under overall deals, will produce. Maggie Kiley is set to direct and executive produce the pilot.

“Grosse Pointe Garden Society” is one of the few broadcast pilots ordered for the traditional pilot season thus far. NBC has only ordered two other pilots this season: an untitled multi-cam starring Reba McEntire and “Suits: LA,” a spinoff of the USA Network series “Suits.”
