IFC reels in ‘Coastlines’

First Take to preem 24 indie films

NEW YORK — IFC Entertainment has added “Ulee’s Gold” helmer Victor Nunez’s “Coastlines” to its IFC First Take slate, which distributes pics day-and-date in theaters and through video-on-demand.

Under topper Jonathan Sehring, IFC unveiled plans at Sundance to preem 24 indie films this year via First Take as a strategy to give niche pics exposure outside major markets and film fests.

“Coastlines” will roll out in May.

Other pics in First Take’s stable so far include the mockumentary “C.S.A.: The Confederate States of America,” exec produced by Spike Lee; “American Gun,” with Donald Sutherland, Forest Whitaker and Marcia Gay Harden; “Russian Dolls,” with Audrey Tautou; and “Sorry, Haters,” starring Robin Wright Penn.

Nunez-helmed pic looks at life in a rural Florida coastal town and stars Timothy Olyphant as a man who returns home after five years in prison. Josh Brolin and Sarah Wynter also star.
