To finish a hole of a golf course by getting the ball into the cup. The pronoun "it" is sometimes used between "hole" and "out." He got onto the green in just two strokes, but he's having trouble holing out. She managed to hole it out with a brilliant chip shot. I holed out under par, right? Yes!
