Thiacri Senegalais

Although eaten in neighboring Senegal, Thiacri is also a favorite dish in Guinea, as a wonderful after dinner treat during celebrations, or a specialty eaten after breaking the fast during Ramadan, the Muslim holy month.

 

Ingredients
  • 2-3 cups uncooked couscous marocain
  • 1 32 oz. container of DANNON vanilla yogurt
  • 1 small (6oz.) can of CARNATION condensed milk (non-sucré)
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • OR substitute sweetened, condensed milk and omit the sugar
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
Directions

Step 1

Prepare couscous according to directions. Couscous should be light, not sticky with clumps. Set aside.

Step 2

Mix yogurt, condensed milk, sugar and vanilla extract. This should form a very thick milk mixture.

Step 3

Chill milk and couscous.

Step 4

Pour milk into small cups.

Step 5

Add couscous to cups and mix well. Eat with a spoon.
