October music

[edit]
story · music · places

You may remember Maryvonne Le Dizès, my story today as on 28 August. Some September music was unusual: last compositions and eternal light, with Ligeti mentioned in story and music. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 12:14, 3 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I made Leif Segerstam my big story today. There's a jumping cat in the places. -Gerda Arendt (talk) 08:52, 16 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

My story today is about a composer and choir conductor, listen to his Lamento. - My story on 13 October was about a Bach cantata. As this place works, it's on the Main page now because of the date. I sort of like it because today is the birth date of my grandfather who loved and grew dahlias like those pictured. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 14:42, 22 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Happy whatever you celebrate today, - more who died, more to come, and they made the world richer. Greetings from Madrid where I took the pic of assorted Cucurbita in 2016. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 16:52, 31 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

CampaignEvents extension follow-up

[edit]

Hi Bluerasberry, it was great running into you at WikiConNA last week and I was glad to see your enthusiasm for the CampaignEvents extension. As I mentioned, the recent Village Pump discussion around this topic was archived, and if you’re interested in getting the extension enabled for English Wikipedia, a next step would be to revive that discussion with the English Wikipedia community. You’re also welcome to test out the extension for yourself on test.wiki by following this tutorial. There are also shorter demo videos on Commons. Note that we’ve since launched additional features to this extension, such as the Event list and Invitation list (see demo on the beta cluster). I hope this helps, but please don’t hesitate to reach out if you need anything else. Note that I also shared this on User:SuperHamster's Talk page. @Ratnahastin: No, I had not seen it, so thanks for sharing. I have included it in the developing story at Wikipedia:Wikipedia Signpost/Next issue/News and notes. Thanks for sharing. Bluerasberry (talk) 15:19, 21 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Invitation to participate in a research

[edit]

Hello,

The Wikimedia Foundation is conducting a survey of Wikipedians to better understand what draws administrators to contribute to Wikipedia, and what affects administrator retention. We will use this research to improve experiences for Wikipedians, and address common problems and needs. We have identified you as a good candidate for this research, and would greatly appreciate your participation in this anonymous survey.

You do not have to be an Administrator to participate.

The survey should take around 10-15 minutes to complete. You may read more about the study on its Meta page and view its privacy statement .

Please find our contact on the project Meta page if you have any questions or concerns.

Kind Regards,

WMF Research Team

"Editing Wikipedia is not a crime" graphic

[edit]

Appreciate the graphic you created for The Signpost. This might work better as an SVG, do you mind if I ask a graphically inclined Wikipedian I know to take a look? ☆ Bri (talk) 16:31, 1 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Bri: Yes, SVG is preferable. If you can negotiate conversion then please do. Bluerasberry (talk) 16:34, 1 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Always precious

[edit]

Ten years ago, you were found precious. That's what you are, always. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 08:57, 3 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

ANI/WP

[edit]

You might find this interesting. Regards, TrangaBellam (talk) 10:08, 3 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hey

[edit]

Lane, hope you're doing fine, also after the elections, and hope you try again in the future. You'll be great. I sent you an email now (directly from my other main address-mail to yours), to chat a bit as it's been a long time, including about back when we hung out in New York; making sure that mail still functions, and wish that you keep enjoying the various projects such as meetups and medicine content. :-) אומנות (talk) 18:31, 3 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Signpost demographics

[edit]

I'll save everybody the trouble of checking on the {{Gender}} connected to all the names on the editorial team listed at The Signpost's "about" page, and just say there are no self-reported "she"s there. But, are we really going to do this? If so, what demographics matter? Are we going to poll for income levels? Political leanings? United States protected group status? I don't like the smell of where this is going. ☆ Bri (talk) 20:37, 4 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Bri: I am glad we had the convo and found consensus to DELETE Bluerasberry (talk) 20:44, 4 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hopefully my brevity wasn't taken the wrong way. What I meant to say was, sufficient credentials for being a Signposter are having an account in good standing. I'd rather not have anybody scrutinized farther than that. P.s. I'm pretty sure the last two regular humour columnists who we lost were "they" or "she". That's something to think about. ☆ Bri (talk) 20:49, 4 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Bri: I love everything about writing for Signpost and sincerely appreciate and enjoy every interaction. Bluerasberry (talk) 21:06, 4 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
