Category:Spiders described in 1758

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Year that the species was first scientifically described.

The starting point for zoological nomenclature is 1758. The International Code of Zoological Nomenclature (ICZN) says at Article 3.3 that Clerck's Aranei Svecici, actually published in 1757, is one of two works "deemed to have been published on 1 January 1758". Hence spider species described by Carl Alexander Clerck in this work can be dated either to 1757, as the World Spider Catalog does, or to 1758, in line with the ICZN.
