Disambiguation link notification for November 7
Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Third-party and independent candidates for the 2008 United States presidential election, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page New York (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 07:24, 7 November 2019 (UTC)
ArbCom 2019 election voter message
Hey there, I just want to clarify something about this article. Nobody is claiming that there is consensus to not have any of the results in this article. All that is happening here is that these particular tables are being moved to the state results articles, and I have taken the time and effort to do so. We most certainly still can have results on the main article, just not as detailed as these tables, and the talk page discussion shows this. I hope this clears things up. I'd greatly appreciate if you would self-revert your recent edits, and we can discuss how to take the article further. Cheers, Onetwothreeip (talk) 08:47, 1 December 2019 (UTC)
- I am merely restoring the status quo. If consensus is reached to move, I will gladly self-revert. Devonian Wombat talk 08:53, 1 November 2019 (UTC)
- With all due respect, you are the only participant on the talk page that has argued for all the content remaining on one page. I agree with the clear consensus view of the discussion that the article should be used for the highest level results, and that the article should include the results. I certainly don't believe that the state sections of this article should only be links to other articles, they should most definitely include results as well. Onetwothreeip (talk) 09:00, 1 December 2019 (UTC)
- This is not true, Carter and Noncommittalp both opposed the move. It is just that buried in the section other users voted and changed what was originally a 3-3 vote. A formal vote should probably be held, as the current discussion is messy and confusing to look at. I apologize for reverting your edits without doing due diligence first. Devonian Wombat talk 09:04, 1 November 2019 (UTC)
- Carter agrees with me that the article should be a "high-level picture" and hasn't said that all the details about each district election should be in the same article, and neither has Noncommittalp. They both sensibly argue that the article should have results for all the districts, not that everything should be in one article. Onetwothreeip (talk) 09:14, 1 December 2019 (UTC)

American politics discretionary sanctions notice
This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.
You have shown interest in post-1932 politics of the United States and closely related people. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect. Any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or the page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.
For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

5%
Hi Devonian Wombat. Would you point out how you came up with "Generally, the accepted standard for inclusion in an infobox is 5%." for articles about primaries and caucuses? - MrX 🖋 19:33, 21 February 2020 (UTC)
- Because that’s the cutoff that I’ve seen used most often? I never claimed that it was a rule or anything like that, just what was most often used as the cutoff. Devonian Wombat (talk) 20:33, 21 February 2020 (UTC)

A diruptive wednesday: What do you want to do about it?
Early voting,
- Texas: 1,070,278 GOP and 954,583 Dem.
- California: 3 million mail-in ballots received so far.
Super Tuesday at Wikipedia is going to be a mess. Yeah, the people doing the tabulating are really good people and they do a great job, but there are problems with the mail-in ballots in Colorado and California and the delays are going to be worse than Iowa was. Imagine 14 Iowas simultaneously. I'm not saying that ALL or even most of the states will have problems publishing results, but some will, and people will gunk up the talk pages with requests that the numbers be changed. Then there's next week and the week after. More of that. On the Democratic side, it's going to be either Bernie sweeping everything on Tuesday night or a slog all the way to Milwaukee. A mess either way.
What are we going to do about it?
AS to the Republicans, which is what your complaint about me is about, it's actually much easier, The polls in fivethirtyeight.com show that he's getting 84-94% everywhere. That means we can do some planning. While the Democratic race is unpredictable, the Republican is not. We are talking about what we should do on Wednesday. If Rocky gets 1% of the vote in Texas, based on the numbers I provided above, that's ten thousand votes already. If Weld gets twice that much, that's still only 20 thousand. Trump will still get well over a million from Texas' early voting alone (according to the polls at 538). How can you still say, "oh, this is still a competitive race". how? If one candidate is literally millions of votes ahead of his nearest competitor? Not splitting off Trump as the incumbent or the presumptive nominee makes us look bad. That's why they changed the rules for major and minor candidates, to separate a guy with fifty thousand votes from a guy who only totaled 12 votes.
We are supposed to be on the same side. Wednesday is going to be totally disruptive and it's not going to be my doing. We should embrace it and be ready for it. Arglebargle79 (talk) 23:30, 1 March 2020 (UTC)
Revert to Template:2020 Democratic Party presidential primaries
Regarding the your edit made to this template, I am a bit confused, because I've found no RfC regarding the infobox I edited, only an RfC about infoboxes for specific state primaries and caucuses. --TedEdwards 15:09, 8 March 2020 (UTC)
- It’s not actually on the template page, it’s at Talk:2020 Democratic Party presidential primaries#Rfc regarding the 2020 Democratic presidential primaries infobox template. Devonian Wombat (talk) 20:43, 8 March 2020 (UTC)
2020 Libertarian Party presidential primaries
Hey, I noticed you just made an edit deleting the LibertyCon debate from the page per it not being a "Libertarian Party-sponsored debate". This is not the current criterium, and I do know the LP has promoted the debate on their site in fact. A prior debate was removed because it did not consist exclusively of candidates for the Libertarian presidential nomination. So again, debates not "sponsored by the Libertarian Party" are okay so long as they are among candidates for the LP nomination. I am however going to let your edit slide because LibertyCon has been cancelled anyway due to COVID-19. Ghoul flesh • talk 21:11, 12 March 2020 (UTC)

2020 United States presidential election
Per Talk:2016 United States presidential election/Archive 8#Prior consensus and this year's infobox, third parties can be listed in the infobox if they have ballot access to at least 270 electoral votes until election day. The Libertarian Party and Green Party have met that threshold so far. Please consider self-reverting this edit. --Wow (talk) 02:43, 25 March 2020 (UTC)
- Wow, I will self revert, but this is a topic that definitely needs more discussion. Even the linked thread just brings up a previous consensus reached in 2012, which is a massively long time ago. Devonian Wombat (talk) 03:47, 25 March 2020 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Denis (YouTuber)
Hello Devonian Wombat,
I wanted to let you know that I just tagged Denis (YouTuber) for deletion, because the article doesn't clearly indicate why the subject is important enough to be included in an encyclopedia.
If you feel that the article shouldn't be deleted and want more time to work on it, you can contest this deletion, but don't remove the speedy deletion tag from the top.
You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Thanks!

Kim Ruff ordering in list of withdrawn candidates in LP presidential candidates page
Hi. You undid my edit and moved Kim Ruff to the bottom of the list of candidates, and gave as a reason that the candidates are being listed in order of votes received, but she did not receive the least votes, so should not be at the bottom. Starchild (talk) 06:46, 11 May 2020 (UTC)
Here is the link – https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=2020_Libertarian_Party_presidential_primaries&action=history Starchild (talk) 06:46, 11 May 2020 (UTC)
- @StarcildSF, my apologies, I had selected a message from a list of popups, as I had already typed up a response but got an edit conflict, and I accidentally selected the wrong one and submitted the edit without realising. The candidates are actually ordered by date of withdrawal, as Ruff withdrew first she is at the bottom of the table. Devonian Wombat (talk) 06:49, 11 May 2020 (UTC)
Okay, I see that. Guess that makes some sense for the withdrawn candidates, even though the candidates still in the race are listed in order of votes received. Thanks for explaining. Starchild (talk) 07:50, 11 May 2020 (UTC)
I think you would have figured out by now that Libertarians are experts in pointlessness,
I know that. But it doesn't change anything. The primaries choose delegates to the convention. Even they aren't going to hold them, as the delegates have already been chosen. keeping the "post nomination primaries" in the article is just trolling.Arglebargle79 (talk) 13:19, 15 May 2020 (UTC)
- @Arglebargle79, actually, the Libertarian primaries are unique in that with the exception of New York, they do not even select delegates to the convention. There is really no difference between those held before and after it. Devonian Wombat (talk) 18:43, 15 May 2020 (UTC)

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Wild Weasel (G.I. Joe) into another page. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). Greetings. I've undone the redirect here for procedural reasons--the IP which "closed" the AfD discussion came to my attention because it had also closed Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Berkeley SkyDeck, which in turn was the restoration of a questionable close by an editor which was soon after blocked for long-term abuse. I have no issue whatsoever with the discussion or the redirect, but I merely wanted to be sure that the AfD close was done by an editor in good standing. Thank you for your understanding. --Finngall talk 15:16, 12 June 2020 (UTC)

Need your help
Your !vote on Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Rachel Goenka (2nd nomination) isn't currently visible because my earlier comment had an invisible comment which wasn't closed properly (I know its stupid of me). Could you please remove the <!--Typle below this line> right above the relist temp. If I do it then, your comment will be subst by my signature. - hako9 (talk) 02:00, 26 July 2020 (UTC)
- hako9, I'm afraid I just attempted to do it only to find I probably shouldn't remove it either, if I do that I am shown as the person who relisted the discussion instead of the person who actually did the relist. I have gone ahead and temporarily removed my !vote, so hopefully Spartaz can remove the line without problems. Devonian Wombat (talk) 02:07, 26 July 2020 (UTC)
- Thanks for removing the !vote temporarily. I am going ahead and removing the invisible comment anyway with the disclosure that I wasn't the one who relisted (as evidenced by the edit history). Shouldn't be a big deal. You can reinstate your !vote now. - hako9 (talk) 02:18, 26 July 2020 (UTC)
