Owen O'Shiel (Irish: Eoghan Ó Siadhail) (1596 - 1650) was an Irish physician[1] who was the chief military surgeon of the Irish Catholic Confederation from 1642 to 1650. He was known as the "Eagle of Doctors" ("Iolar na nDochtúirí").[2]

Born in County Westmeath to a family of prominent physicians,[1] he studied at Douai, Paris, Louvain, and Padua.[3]

He married Catherine Tyrrell, daughter of Captain Richard Tyrrell.[1]

Siadhail died in 1650 at the Battle of Scarrifholis, where the Confederacy Army was defeated.[4]
