On remarque ici la tuyère du moteur. Comme tous les premiers fuséistes, Goddard pensait que cette fusée "à traction avant" serait stable (sur le modèle du boeuf tirant la charrue) (le moteur et sa tuyère constituant "le boeuf" et le reste de la fusée "la charue"). Il n'en est rien : une fusée à traction avant n'est en rien plus stable qu'une fusée à propulsion arrière. Voir à ce sujet cet article. À propos de cette fusée voir cette image.
Ces deux tuyaux transportaient carburant et comburant depuis les réservoirs (pressurisés) en bas jusqu'au moteur (en haut).
Les deux réservoirs étaient protégés des flammes en provenance de la tuyère par ce cône métallique.
