Political parties in GBLA, civil society and students' organisations condemned the remarks of chief secretary and termed them insulting to GB people.

The result of GBLA elections and Mandi Bahuddin by-election has validated Pakistan Muslim League-N mandate in General Election 2013.

Earlier in the day, the PML-N nominated its GB President and newly elected member of GB Legislative Assembly (GBLA) Hafiz Hafeez-ur-Rehman for the post of CM.

HRCP also acknowledged the efforts of the election commission for the largely well managed GBLA elections and believes that the polls hold many lessons for the conduct of elections elsewhere in Pakistan.

GILGIT: The treasury and opposition members in Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) Legislate Assembly (GBLA) on Tuesday passed a resolution over the excessive delay in announcement of political and constitutional reforms in the region, reported a local English daily.The GBLA demanded the federal government to share and implement the recommendations of a constitutional committee headed by Sartaj Aziz, the then adviser to the PM on foreign affairs.

Through his counsel Malik Kifayatul Rehman, Mr Ahmad said in the petition that the educational degree submitted by the chief minister during the election on a technocrat seat in GBLA in 2009 was fake.

GILGIT:Jointopposition in theGilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly (GBLA) rejected the proposed draft of administrative and political reforms package, The Government Gilgit-Baltistan Order 2018, on Monday, reported a local media outlet.The 2018order will replace the existing Gilgit Baltistan (GB) Empowerment and Self Governance Order of 2009.GB opposition parties announced to conduct a unified protest against the proposed reforms on May 12.Opposition leaders includingMohammad Shafi Khan, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf's (PTI)Raja Jahanzeb Khan,Bibi Salima,Kacho Imtiaz Haider and Pakistan Peoples Party's (PPP)Javed Hussain termed the proposed package as an attempt to reign in powers of the GBLA and an attempt to further Islamabad's direct rule over the area.

The matter was highlighted, last month when GB Legislative Assembly (GBLA) passed a unanimous resolution asking the federal government to take immediate steps for the release of over 50 Chinese wives of GB men -detained in Xinjiang province of China.

Sources said PML-N enjoys two thirds majority in GBLA with 22 seats in its basket.
