‘Game of Thrones’ Star Lena Headey Is Engaged to Childhood Friend Dan Cadan
It takes a village. Ahead of the season 7 premiere of HBO’s Game of Thrones, leading lady Lena Headey quietly revealed in an interview with the New York Times this week that she’s engaged to her childhood friend, filmmaker Dan Cadan.
The couple concealed their engagement from the public for several months until this week when the paper reported the news. Headey, 43, revealed that Cadan had proposed this past spring, and they’re currently planning a summer 2018 wedding.
“I always said to him, ‘Don’t ever ask me to marry you, it’s a disaster,’” the actress said. “But it actually feels really wonderful.”
Cadan and Headey have known each other since they were kids. The actress grew up in Yorkshire, England, where she recently relocated after living in Los Angeles for 12 years.
“My life’s been mad for the last year,” she told the Times. “I would’ve stayed in L.A. and played the game, but I want my kids to have a bit of grounding. In the last two weeks, my son has said to my dad, ‘I just want to be like you, Grandpa.’”
This will be the second marriage for Headey, who was previously married to musician Peter Loughran. She shares a son Wylie, 7, with her first husband, and a 2-year-old daughter named Teddy with Cadan.
