A FAMILY'S dream trip is in limbo after BA axed their flights, only to tell them hours later they could rebook them - at almost PS2,000 more.

Up to 40,000 customers telephoned the airline after receiving the message incorrectly telling them that they had to rebook their flights.

China Eastern Airlines did not rebook the women after their connecting flight was cancelled due to bad weather.

Passengers of affected flights may rebook, refund or place the ticket cost in a travel fund, free of charge

Two Taiwan-based travel agencies said Monday that they will help customers rebook their flight schedules and hotel accommodation following a major protest that paralyzed air traffic at Hong Kong International Airport.

The airline said it has moved to back-up manual systems for checking in passengers to keep some flights operating and is also offering customers the chance to rebook for another day.

Affected PAL passengers of canceled flights on Monday were given three options: One, to be re-accomodated on flights to and from Hong Kong on Tuesday (August 6); two, to rebook within 30 days from original flight date with rebooking fees waived; or to refund the cost of their tickets within 30 days from original flight date with refund fees waived.

American Airlines will try to rebook passengers for any of its Boeing 737 Max flights through Nov.

For their existing bookings, Lagamon said, the affected passengers have the option to rebook their flights, get a full refund or place the cost of the ticket in a travel fund.

Affected passengers, who will be given one round trip travel voucher, were told that they could opt to rebook their flights, free of charge, for travel within 30 days from original departure date; receive a full refund; place the full cost of the ticket in a travel fund; or re-route to/from alternate airports, subject to seat availability.

We are working to rebook impacted customers as soon as possible but given the magnitude of our 737 MAX operations which on average carry nine to twelve thousand customers per day, customers can expect delays in rebooking and in reaching Air Canada call centres and we appreciate our customers' patience...We fully support this decision and will continue to work with Transport Canada towards resolution of this situation as soon as possible." Shares of Boeing, maker of the 737 MAX,are little changed in midday trading.
