David worked for the Electric Boat division of General Dynamics in Groton, Connecticut, and Sperry UNIVAC, which built one of first mainframe computers. David designed mainframe computer systems and was inducted into the Sperry UNIVAC Hall of Fame.

Both cases are related to IBM's conduct on the market for mainframe computers. The first case follows complaints by emulator software vendors T3 and Turbo Hercules, and focuses on IBM's alleged tying of mainframe hardware to its mainframe operating system.

It manufactures and sells computer hardware and software, and offers infrastructure services, hosting services, and consulting services in areas ranging from mainframe computers to nanotechnology.

Full functionality of mainframe computers can be maintained while legacy applications are re-hosted with XFRAME on systems running UNIX, Linux or Windows.

By the 1960s, mainframe computers permitted the rise of companies that produced standardized credit ratings, thus enabling banks to outsource a portion of the credit granting process--credit rating--to companies such as TRW.

Unfortunately, only about 5% of the world's digital data resides on mainframe computers. The DF-capabilities don't exist in any unified or mature state for Unix, Windows and Linux, which account for over 85% of the world's digital data.

The deal envisions installing Microsoft's ''Windows Server 2003'' operating system and its successor-system versions on Fujitsu's high-grade servers, with an eye to giving resultant products capabilities and reliability that match those of large mainframe computers, the two said.
